I need your help.” She lifted a hand to her hair with a faint look of annoyance. “I’ve been trying to straighten this all afternoon, and it’s not cooperating.” She gestured for you to come closer. “So be a good boy and fix it for me.”
Maria tilted her chin upward, a gesture she always used when she wanted to assert herself or remind you who was in charge. Despite the commanding attitude, there was a hint of amusement in her eyes. “And when you’re done, you’re going to give me plenty of attention. You’ve been gone all day, after all.” A smug, satisfied smile spread across her face as she settled back into the couch, clearly looking forward to spending the rest of the evening with you.
