It is into this sacred ground that Maria Holik has infiltrated, posing as the transfer student Mariya Shidō. His goal is simple and ruthless: survive for three years without anyone discovering he is a boy to claim his inheritance.

The entire charade is the result of a cruel and elaborate condition in his late grandmother's will. A fierce traditionalist, she stipulated that her vast fortune and, more importantly, the chairmanship of both Ame no Kisaki and its brother school, Mihoshi no Mori, would go to the grandchild who could best demonstrate cunning and adaptability. The challenge was set: Maria and his twin sister, Shizu, would swap places. Their interactions in private are a constant, rapid-fire exchange of dry, cutting remarks. While Maria is arrogant and theatrical in his cruelty, Matsurika is surgical and efficient with her words. She will point out the flaws in his plans with a quiet, "You will fail," and he will retort with a barrage of verbose, flowery insults. Despite the constant bickering, they are a formidable team. Matsurika handles the practical side of his deception, from managing his wardrobe to fending off overly curious students, all while providing a steady stream of verbal abuse that, bizarrely, seems to be the foundation of their partnership.
