In Miss Hattie's Home for Girls, there were poor children—not just any poor children, but girls up to the age of seventeen who needed care because they didn’t have families of their own. It was an orphanage, but it was run by a terrible woman known as Miss Hattie, who was not very kind to the children. She took over only after the sudden death of her sister, who had been very kind to the girls and made them feel special, even as orphans.
As, the moon shines brightly in the sky. Margo, Edith, and Agnes walk down the sidewalk, with Edith leaping from puddle to puddle. SPLASH! Water splatters all over Margo.
Margo: "Oh, Edith! Stop it!"
Edith: "What? I’m just walking."
The three girls enter the orphanage. DING! They step into the reception area, where pink flowery wallpaper and pink furniture create a cheerful atmosphere. Perfectly stacked displays of boxes of Miss Hattie’s Cookies line the shelves. The girls quickly line up behind the yellow line before calling out to Miss Hattie, who sits at the reception desk.
The Three Girls (stepping forward) "Hi, Miss Hattie! We’re back."
Miss Hattie (looking up from her paperwork) "Hello, girls."
Agnes (hopeful, bouncing slightly on her toes) "Did anyone come to adopt us while we were out?"
Miss Hattie (leaning back in her chair, crossing her arms) "Hmmm, let me think. No!"
Edith places a ball of mud on Miss Hattie’s desk, grinning widely. Miss Hattie stares, her expression shifting to disbelief.
Miss Hattie (glaring at the mud pie) "Edith! What did you put on my desk?"
Edith (proudly puffing out her chest) "A mud pie."
Miss Hattie looks Edith right in the eyes, her expression stern.
Miss Hattie (pointing a finger at her) "You’re never going to get adopted, Edith. You know that, don’t you?"
Miss Hattie slides the mud pie out of the way with a frown.
Edith (shrugging, looking down) "Yeah, I know."
Miss Hattie (sighing, softening slightly) "Good." (changing gears, leaning forward) "So how did it go, girls? Did we meet our quotas?"
Margo (glancing at her sisters before speaking, hesitant) "Um, sorta. We sold 43 minty mints, 30 choco swirlies, and 18 coconutties."
Miss Hattie stares back at the girls, her disappointment evident.
Miss Hattie (raising an eyebrow) "Okay, well, you say that like it’s a great sales day." (losing it, standing up and gesturing wildly) "LOOK AT MY FACE! DO YOU STILL THINK IT’S A GREAT SALES DAY???"
(taking a breath, regaining her composure) "Eighteen coconutties... I think we can do a little better than that, don’t you? Yeah, we wouldn’t want to spend the weekend in the Box of Shame, would we? No."
The Three Girls (nervously nodding) "No, Miss Hattie."
She claps her hands, sending the girls off with a wave. As they pass by a cardboard box labeled "Box of Shame," a small hole cut out of one side reveals the face of a small child peeking through. The three girls then enter their tiny room, which contains three beds. They kneel beside the beds, saying their prayers together.
Margo (kneeling beside her bed, eyes closed) "...and please watch over us and bless us with a good night’s sleep..."
Edith (leaning in with a mischievous grin) "...and bless that while we’re sleeping, no bugs will crawl into our ears and lay eggs in our brains..."
Margo shoots Edith a disapproving look, shaking her head.
Margo (sighing dramatically) "Great. Thanks for that image, Edith."
Agnes (with a hopeful expression, clasping her hands together) "...and please bless that someone will adopt us soon... and that the mommy and daddy will be nice... and have a pet unicorn. Amen."
Margo and Edith (in unison, rolling their eyes) "Amen."
The girls climb into their beds, pulling the covers up to their chins. Margo turns out the light, plunging the room into soft darkness. Agnes, undeterred, begins singing softly to her stuffed unicorn, cradling it in her arms.
Agnes (swaying slightly, her voice bright) "Unicorns, I love them, Unicorns, I love them, Uni, Uni, Unicorns, I love them."
Edith groans, burying her face under her pillow, trying to block out the sound.
Edith (muffled, voice strained) "Ugh, Agnes..."
Agnes continues to sing, her enthusiasm unwavering.
Agnes (her eyes shining with joy, still cradling her unicorn) "Uni, unicorns, I could pet one If they were really real, And they are! So I bought one So I could pet it. Now it loves me, now I love it. La, la, la..."
Eventually, her singing fades into a soft whisper, and the room is filled with the serene stillness of sleep. The faint glow from the moon filters through the window, casting gentle shadows across the room, where dreams begin to swirl in the girls’ minds. Who knows? Maybe they will be adopted tomorrow.
The Next Day, Edith and Agnes were in their room getting dressed, while Margo was sweeping the halls downstairs and Miss Hattie sat at the reception desk.
Margo stirs first, blinking sleepily as she adjusts to the morning light. She stretches, letting out a small yawn before sitting up and glancing at the clock.
Margo (groggy but resolute) "Time to wake up, everyone. We can’t sleep the whole day away."
Edith shifts under her covers, mumbling something incoherent, clearly not ready to face the day yet.
Edith (voice muffled, half-asleep) "Five more minutes… please?"
Agnes, still hugging her unicorn, slowly opens her eyes, a bright smile spreading across her face as she sees the sun streaming in.
Agnes (cheerfully) "Good morning, everyone! Look, it’s a beautiful day! Maybe today is the day we get adopted!"
Margo can’t help but smile at Agnes’s enthusiasm, while Edith finally peeks out, her expression a mix of hope and reluctance.
Margo (playfully) "Alright, let’s make sure we’re all ready before we start wishing for unicorns and parents."
With a mix of laughter and sleepy grumbles, the sisters begin to rise, ready to face whatever the day has in store for them.

- #1Miss Hattie's Home for Girls
Keys: Miss Hattie's Home for Girls, Home for Girls, Orphanage
Owner: Miss Hattie Type: Orphanage Location: Downtown
Miss Hattie's Home for Girls is an orphanage owned by Miss Hattie. It is implied that the environment of the orphanage is pretty severe due to her ironhanded management. One of the funds that support the orphanage is a cookie-selling business held by the little girls.
The pictures hanging on the walls of Miss Hattie's office show row after row of gloom-faced little girls that have lived at the orphanage. There is no indication of how many little girls had been adopted. According to an order form that Margo takes, there are seven flavors of cookies that the orphanage offers: Coconutties, Jam Slams, Chocolate Swirlies, Minty Mints, Caramel Clumpies, Toffee Totes, and Loopy Lemons. A box of a flavor costs $6. On Miss Hattie’s computer, you can see the name of the folder “Dr. Renaud Resume”. This is a reference to director Chris Renaud.

- #2Miss Madison Hattie
Keys: Miss Madison Hattie, Miss Hattie
Gender: Female Age: 40 Eye color: Blue Hair color: Light Brown Occupation: Owner of "Miss Hattie's Home for Girls"
Miss Hattie is a chubby woman who has anatomy that consists of having small hands and feet, strong arms and legs, and large breasts and bottom. Her style shows to have brown hair curved in tight bangs, and often wears a red plaid pencil-skirt and a pink cardigan with a matching pink-gem brooch.
Miss Hattie is ironically different from the attitude of the cheerful and happy looks of the Orphanage. Unlike these traits, Miss Hattie appears as a gloomy, stern, and uncaring woman. It is possible that Miss Hattie forces the orphans into child labor, as she dismisses Margo Gru, Edith Gru, and Agnes Gru when she says, "Go clean something of mine."
When Gru came to adopt the little girls, Miss Hattie shows that she is snobbish and arrogant towards people as she looked online to Gru's profile in order to see if he is a good person. Due to being uncultured and politically incorrect, she fell for Gru's unwittingly harsh statement in Spanish on her face being "como un burro" (Spanish: "like a donkey"), to which she thought of as a compliment until she researched the meaning in a Spanish dictionary and kept it to eventually slap him across the face with it. They both wear pink, have short brown hair, and are passive-aggressive child abusers.
- #3Box of Shame
Keys: Box of Shame, Box of SHAME #1, Box of SHAME #2, Box of SHAME #3
The Box of Shame is a cardboard box that was created by Miss Madison Hattie, with the simple words "Box of SHAME" on it. Little girls who upset her or misbehave in anyway will get sent there as punishment.
A few things that seemingly weigh more than the strength of a little girl, such as another box with heavy content inside or a thick book, were kept on the box's hood, to prevent little girls from escaping the Box, and a part of the cardboard is also cut off so the orphaned little girls could breathe easily, and may also be for giving them food. Usually, the sentence is usually a week.
Margo, Edith, and Agnes were sent to the Box of Shame after being sent back to Miss Hattie's Home for Girls as a request from Dr. Nefario. It is unknown why they were forced to sit in the Box of Shame, possibly Miss Hattie believes that they were misbehaving during the adoption.
Penny was also one of the little girls who were sent to the Box of Shame, for trying to escape. It is possible that Miss Hattie made a rule for all little girls, to say "hi" or "hello" to the orphan little girls kept inside, and for them too to reply. When Margo, Edith, and Agnes are possibly punished, apparently the original box was too small, so Miss Hattie made two other boxes, "Box of SHAME #2" and "Box of SHAME #3", and has the three little girls stay in the three boxes.
- #4Super Silly Fun Land
Keys: Super Silly Fun Land, amusement park
Super Silly Fun Land is an amusement park located on a pier. Super Silly Fun Land is likely based on Pacific Park in Santa Monica, California. Both locations are built on a pier, and feature one roller coaster and many game booths.
Type: Amusement Park Location: On a pier
Attractions: The park has four known attractions: Space Killer: It can handle 3 players maximum; the 3 guns shoot plastic balls, and the objective of the game is to knock down a small tin U.F.O. prop which moves around in the back of the game set. It appears to be very difficult to knock down the target, therefore the game might be rigged. Tin Can Alley Go Fish A roller coaster: The on-ride photo costs $4.99.
