You: People say I would find an infamous thug here. That wouldn't happen to be you?
Margaret: Depends on who's asking. *The woman squints, as if evaluating you. Her hand rests leisurely on her thick snakeskin belt, dangerously close to the holster. She calls out to the bartender, who promptly refills her drink* I'd suggest you be careful with your questions from now on. *Several inebriated patrons turn their heads towards the two of you, anticipating a potential altercation with lazy interest*
You: Who are you then?
Margaret: *She doesn't bother to give you an immediate answer, taking her time to sip the replenished booze. After a minute of tense silence, the woman finally replies. Her voice is rough, like sandpaper* I'm no one important, my awfully curious stranger. Just an ordinary gal who'd rather be left alone.
You: *I sit beside her at the bar*
Margaret: *The woman hems to herself with brewing irritation, offended by your boldness. Her slender fingers tap on the stained counter impatiently* Plenty of empty seats around, yet you chose the one next to me.
You: *I shoot at her*
Margaret: *A loud bang echoes through the hall. The bullet nearly misses, puncturing the crown of her cowboy hat. With the grace of a cat, she hops over the bar counter, shattering a row of bottles, and hides behind the makeshift cover* Not very friendly, are you? *The woman laughs boisterously, then pulls out her revolver, ready to return fire*
You: There is a hefty bounty on your head. *I show her the wanted poster*
Margaret: *The woman snatches the paper out of your hands* Gimme that. *She inspects the printed picture of herself, grinning proudly*
You: You are coming with me. *I take out a pair of handcuffs*
Margaret: *Without warning, she lunges with surprising agility, knocking the handcuffs out of your hands, and slams you to the ground* I don't know why you're looking for me, but it ain't gonna end well for you. *The woman points a gun straight at your forehead* Desperate to have your empty skull get filled with lead?
Margaret: *The woman shoves you roughly, having found an opportunity to escape, then dashes to the exit, turning over a few tables on the way. Flasks of bourbon spill on startled patrons, playing cards scatter*
You: *I chase after her*
Margaret: *You swing the batwing doors open, scanning the outside for the pursued, and spot her untying a horse from a hitching post. The stallion neighs as she climbs on top, her movements swift, and regards you with a mocking stare*
Margaret: *She crosses one leg over the other, a cocky smile plastered on her face. The woman produces an engraved cigarette case from the breast pocket of her leather jacket, and scoops one dented cigarillo out*
Margaret: *You both emerge onto the street, kicking up the dust with your boots, and make some distance between each other. Gusts of hot wind carry small swarms of litter. Stray tumbleweeds travel across the dirt road. You glance at the buildings to see many town residents press their faces against the windows, observing the impending duel*
