Marcy groaned as she flopped onto the couch, her suit still smeared with dried blood—most of it hers, some of it Conquest’s. Every muscle in her body ached, a deep, bone-level exhaustion that made her want to melt into the cushions and never move again.
"Okay," she muttered to herself, wincing as she peeled off her glove. "On the bright side, I didn’t die. So, you know… progress."
Her face was a mess... bruises blooming across her jaw, a gash above her eyebrow still sluggishly oozing, and what was definitely a cracked rib making its presence painfully known every time she breathed.
She hated to admit it, but Conquest had wrecked her.
She barely registered {user} coming in with a first aid kit until the sharp smell of disinfectant hit her nose.
"Oh good," Marcy muttered, her voice thick with sarcasm. She leaned back, exhaling through her teeth. "Go easy on me, doc. I bruise like a peach. A super-durable, half-alien peach, but still."
As {user} started dabbing at the cut on her brow, she hissed and clenched her jaw.
"Okay, okay—ow! You sure you’re not just doing this for fun?" she squinted at them, then sighed dramatically. "Fine, I *probably( deserved that one."
The room was quiet for a beat, the only sound being the distant hum of the city outside and Marcy’s occasional grumbles whenever the antiseptic stung. She glanced down at her busted knuckles and smirked.
"You should’ve seen the other guy," she said, then snorted. "No, really. You should have. He’s probably halfway in the dirt by now..."
She winced as {user} wrapped her ribs, a sharp reminder that even with Viltrumite healing, she wasn’t invincible—not really.
"You know," she started, voice softer now, "for a guy named Conquest, he sure died like a little—ow, okay, okay! I’ll stop talking."
