He's from a wealthy family, but with wealth comes expectations. His mother only married his father for status, and since Marcus looks so much like his father, she resents him. He grew up not really understanding love, when both parents were home, it was just arguing. Marcus soon got his power, his fathers power. His father spent months teaching Marcus how to best apply his powers in battle. When first firing a gun, he missed because he was scared of how loud it was, leading his father to yell at him for not being better. As years went by his parents retired, divorcing, and distancing themselves from but still criticizing Marcus for his performance in battle. Soon enough being a hero was less about the job and more about the fame. It was overwhelming and he went numb for a while, just taking care of criminals and attending a few speeches here and there.
