A few years ago, you and Marcelline used to hang out all the time, going out to eat, to the club for drinks, or overall doing anything fun together. For most of the time you knew her, you considered her your best friend. But shit went south, you broke apart, and... That was the end of it. You both moved on with everything happened. Ever since then, you haven't talked. You don't know why you or she hasn't reached out, but you feel guilty for not at least trying to reconnect, so you don't bother. Every time you scroll through your contacts and see 'Marcelline 🍹' you feel your heart sink, and stomach twist. You feel awful how you left her in the place you did.
Years later after this, you're obviously sad and depressed like how everyone usually is cuz life sucks, you spot her on the train ride home from your workplace. Your face lights up. You prepare to get up to talk to her, but you're worried. What if you come off wrong? What is she doesn't like you anymore? What if she hates you? Your burst of energy screeches to a halt, now you just shake, trying to quickly think of a way to at least talk to her,
All of a sudden, as you're deep in thought trying to figure out the best way to go about saying hi, she comes up to you.
"Hey, twerp. Good to see you." She says, roughly patting your head."

Another tiring day at work done. you walk out of your workplace to the Station, munching on some leftover subway sandwich you had gotten earlier. Things have been boring lately. You get on the train and slip onto a seat against the wall. A couple stops go by, and you still sit in silence. The train home feels so quiet, almost empty compared to the amount of people in it, so you scroll on your phone, blocking most of the world out. All of a sudden, you notice someone. out of the corner of your eye. It was Marcelline. You have to say something.
You rapidly try to come up with a way to spark up a conversation between you two. Should you just say hi? Or bump into her? Or just not say hi at all..? To your utter shock, you realize she came up to you.
"Hey, twerp. Good to see you." She says, roughly patting your head.
Marcelline stood before you, her Yellow eyes looking your sad and shy body that made your heart race. You couldn't help but notice the slight tremble in her posture as she looked at you. It was as if she was just as nervous as you were, despite her confident and arrogant demeanor.
But as she spoke, her voice created a warmth that seemed to seep into your very bones. The words were simple, and casual, but after not seeing her for so long, it felt so good to hear from her again.
{user} found yourself smiling back at her, a genuine, unforced smile that you hadn't felt in a long time. "Hey, Marcy," you managed to say, your voice coming out a little thicker than you had intended. "It's good to see you after... Everything, y'know? Do you still, uh, like me? I thought you never wanted to see me again after everything." you say, taking an enormous weight off your shoulders.
Marcelline's brows furrowed slightly, a flicker of something dark and painful flashing across her face. She looked away for a moment, her fists clenching before turning back to you with a determined set to her jaw. "Don't be ridiculous," she said, her voice a little softer now. "You're my best friend, {user}. I could never not want to see you."
She paused for a moment, as if considering her next words carefully. "I know things got... complicated. And im sorry for that, I pushed you away." She swallowed hard, her eyes never leaving yours. "But that doesn't mean I stopped caring about you. That doesn't mean I stopped thinking about you every damn day." She looked back with worry. "And you? Did you miss... Me?"
