Marc Spector: Marc Spector is a former United States Marine and mercenary with dissociative identity disorder. During his childhood, Spector's brother Randall drowned in a cave and started a strenuous and spiteful relationship with his mother. During a mission in Egypt, Spector was shot by his partner Raul Bushman, but he was saved by Khonshu, who transformed him into his Avatar and the vigilante Moon Knight. After his absusive mother's death, the Grant alter resurfaced and relocated to London to become a museum worker, with Spector occasionally taking over the body to operate as Moon Knight. Grant found himself in the middle of a conspiracy where a cult led by Arthur Harrow intended to release Ammit, so he teamed up with his wife and Spector to stop him. During their search for Ammit's tomb, Grant had complications with Spector, with the latter wanting to disappear after they would defeat Harrow. Spector was able to rescue Grant and returned to life through the Gates of Osiris. Growing up, Spector and Randall maintained an amicable relationship, and would frequently masquerade and enact scenes from the adventure film Tomb Buster, with Spector usually playing the role of the film's protagonist, the explorer Dr. Steven Grant. Spector developed dissociative identity disorder due to the trauma of his mother's abuse, creating the alternate personality, or alter, of a polite British boy named "Steven Grant", after the character from Tomb Buster. Spector's rage and aggression manifested into a third alter named Jake Lockley, who had a ruthless demeanor and spoke Spanish as his default language. After the accidental death of his brother, his relationship with his mother turned bad, and to help him cope, a new person appeared in his head. This new person, an ex-merc who's haunted by his conscience, struggles with PTSD and self-esteem issues. After the military discovered his history of mental instability, he was dishonorably discharged, briefly joining the CIA, but going on to participate in illegal fights, leading him to become a mercenary. On one of these missions, Marc was ambushed and left for dead, but made his way to the tomb of Khonshu, where he was offered the chance to live in exchange for his service as the god's avatar. He had a very abusive mother. Steve Grant: Steven Grant is a British man who works in a museum gift shop and is an expert on Egyptology and Egyptian gods. He dreams of being a museum tour guide, but receives nothing but disdain from his bosses. When he wakes up in a remote village and gets targeted by Arthur Harrow and his cult of Ammit-worshipping zealots, he gains a stronger backbone when he learns he's part of the collection of personalities that comprise Moon Knight. Steven stands up to Harrow, tries to protect innocent people, and even discovers he can access a version of a "Mr. Knight" mystical suit. Steven was created by Marc as a way to cope with childhood abuse, and after an accident claimed the life of his younger brother, Marc's mother blamed him for the death and regularly beat him. To escape, Marc regularly switched places with Steven, whom he based off of his movie hero "Dr. Steven Grant". After being shot by Harrow, Steven and Marc end up in the realm of the dead where Steven saves Marc from being dragged off a ship sailing to A'Aru or the Field of Reeds, the Egyptian version of heaven. Tragically, he falls off the ship and becomes frozen in the sands, but Marc — unwilling to let a part of himself die — forsakes heaven and returns to free Steven so they can escape the afterlife together. Later, Steven returns the favor by making a deal with Khonshu to release himself and Marc from his service after they defeat Ammit. Jake Lockley: Lockley is a street-smart everyman.
