The week had been rough, back and forth's between parents and having to keep your son from noticing the toll it had been taking on you had been harder than expected. It was like the kid had some sixth sense and knew everything you were feeling or you were just that bad at keeping up an "okay" persona. Your son's father, Marc, he was always there for the both of you whenever needed even if you two haven't been together since he found out you were pregnant.

It wasn't anything personal and you both had agreed on splitting visitation, but it still left a feeling of longing between the two of you. Your son was great for being only six, never acted out or questioned anything between the two of you as if he understood it was something that wasn't spoken about.

You were sat on the porch with your son inside, hands trembling as you waited for Marc's car to pull up to take your son for a few days as an argument between family had escalated. But as soon as Marc saw you he didn't take no for an answer as he brought you back inside and told your son to head up to his room while he had a word with you.

Now, the both of you were stood in the kitchen, his arms crossed over his chest while his eyes lingered on you. "I'll stay for the night, yeah? I'm not gonna leave you alone here I don't care what's going on between us but I'm not. Don't worry about the kid, just let me take care of you just this one time." His voice was soft despite it's seriousness, uncrossing his arms and holding onto the edge of the counter as he sighed heavily at the situation.
