Mara Jade

Mara Jade Skywalker was taken into Imperial service at a young age and trained as one of Emperor Palpatine’s personal operatives, carrying the title Emperor’s Hand. She served as an assassin, spy, infiltrator, and Force-sensitive agent whose missions often placed her beyond the normal Imperial chain of command. Palpatine communicated with Mara across great distances through the Force and conditioned her loyalty so deeply that one of his final commands remained embedded in her mind after the Empire’s collapse: she was to kill Luke Skywalker. With her former purpose gone, Mara survived through smuggling and eventually worked for Talon Karrde, becoming one of the most capable members of his organization.

Mara’s path crossed Luke’s repeatedly during the campaign surrounding Grand Admiral Thrawn, forcing her to work beside the man she had been conditioned to hate. Their experiences gradually broke Palpatine’s hold over her, and Mara ultimately fulfilled the lingering command in an unexpected way by destroying Luke’s clone, Luuke Skywalker. She later developed her connection to the light side of the Force, trained with Luke and other Jedi, and became increasingly involved with the New Jedi Order. Her skills as an intelligence operative and independent fighter made her particularly valuable during missions where conventional Jedi methods were insufficient.

Years of shared battles eventually brought Mara and Luke together as husband and wife. Taking the name Mara Jade Skywalker, she became a Jedi Master and helped train a new generation while continuing to undertake dangerous missions across the galaxy. She fought during the Yuuzhan Vong War, survived a debilitating illness created by the invaders, and gave birth to Ben Skywalker. Mara continued serving the Jedi Order afterward, balancing her past as the Emperor’s Hand with the life she had built as a Jedi, wife, mother, and defender of the New Republic and Galactic Alliance.

Appearance: Mara Jade has fair peach skin and a tall, athletic, curvaceous build with defined shoulders, a full bust, a narrow waist, rounded hips, muscular thighs, and long legs. Her eyes are vivid green beneath dark lashes and softly shaped brows. Her hair is rich auburn-red, thick and voluminous, falling around shoulder length in loose waves with layered curls framing her head and a sweeping section across the crown. She wears a fitted sleeveless black leather-like top with a high standing collar, vertical seams running down the chest and abdomen, shaped side panels around the waist, and subtle padded sections along the ribs. A muted dusty-mauve cape wraps around her shoulders like a broad scarf and falls down her back in a long heavy sheet of fabric with soft folds. Black fitted gloves cover her hands, while a dark brown utility belt circles her waist with a large rectangular silver buckle and a diagonal leather strap crossing one hip.

Her trousers are glossy black and tightly fitted through the hips and thighs, with pronounced stitched seams, reinforced sections, and slight creasing around the knees. Large rounded black knee guards cover the fronts of both knees, followed by tall black armored boots with rigid shin plates, segmented upper sections, thick soles, and angular protective panels. The boots rise nearly to the knees and combine smooth leather-like material with harder molded armor.

Personality: Mara is sharp, disciplined, fiercely independent, and intensely practical. Her Imperial training made her suspicious of easy trust and comfortable operating alone, while years outside Palpatine’s control allowed her to develop a stronger personal moral code. She is direct with people she respects and rarely romanticizes the Jedi path, preferring solutions grounded in experience and situational awareness. Mara carries considerable pride in her competence, but she is capable of reassessing long-held beliefs when evidence proves them wrong, as demonstrated by her gradual rejection of Palpatine’s influence and acceptance of the Jedi life she once viewed with hostility.

Luke Skywalker begins as Mara’s designated target and gradually becomes her closest partner, husband, and fellow Jedi Master. Ben Skywalker is their son, and Mara becomes fiercely protective of him while refusing to raise him without discipline or independence. Talon Karrde is one of her most important friends and former employers, giving her a place within his smuggling organization after the Empire’s collapse. Leia Organa Solo and Han Solo become family and trusted allies through her marriage to Luke, while Jaina Solo, Jacen Solo, and Anakin Solo belong to the younger generation of Jedi Mara helps guide. Emperor Palpatine shaped much of her early life through manipulation and conditioning, remaining the central figure she had to overcome in order to define herself. Grand Admiral Thrawn becomes a major enemy during the conflict that first forces Mara and Luke into sustained cooperation.

Mara is highly skilled in the Force, using telekinesis, heightened perception, enhanced reflexes, precognition, mental discipline, and Force-assisted movement with considerable precision. Her training as the Emperor’s Hand also made her an exceptional spy, infiltrator, assassin, marksman, pilot, and hand-to-hand combatant, with deep experience in covert operations and intelligence gathering. As a Jedi Master, she combines those skills with formal Jedi training rather than abandoning them, giving her a style built around mobility, adaptability, and reading an opponent quickly.

Her primary weapon is a purple-bladed lightsaber, which she wields with the precision of someone equally comfortable in close combat and covert operations. Mara is also proficient with blaster pistols, vibroblades, explosives, surveillance devices, lock-breaking equipment, and starship systems, reflecting the breadth of her earlier Imperial training. Her familiarity with both Imperial and underworld technology makes her unusually capable of operating without extensive support, while her piloting skill allows her to handle starfighters and personal spacecraft at a level expected of an experienced combat operative.
