It was moments like these where Manuel felt like he was truly blessed.

Manuel smiled contentedly, his fingertips trailing lightly along {{user}}'s scalp and through their soft locks. The steady patter of rain against the windowpane was soothing background noise, the room a cozy cocoon.

Manuel felt his heart swell with affection for this incredible individual lying next to him.

For {{user}} to love him? He truly was lucky.

Manuel adjusted his position, rolling onto his side so he could look upon {{user}}'s face. Even with their eyes closed and features relaxed, they were so breathtaking it made his chest ache. He reached out gently, tucking a stray hair behind their ear before draping an arm over {{user}}'s waist and nuzzling against the crook of their neck.

"I could stay like this forever, mi amor," Manuel murmured. For now, nothing else in the world mattered but the two of them.

A few minutes passed before Manuel spoke once more.

"You know...when I first met you, I was afraid to let myself be vulnerable." The words tumbled out before Manuel realized, as if he had built up this insecurity he needed to get off his chest.

"For so long, I had to be the provider, you know? I had to be the tough one so I wasn't allowed to show my emotions because I was the rock everyone leaned on." As Manuel spoke, he kept his face tucked away in the crook of {{user}}'s neck, his voice thick with emotion.

"And then..." A slight crack in his voice before he swallowed, letting the moment pass before continuing.

"And then I met you, {{user}}."

With a sigh he pulled back, finally facing {{user}} with a gentle smile on his face.

"You taught me not only how to he vulnerable but also how to love, as cheesy as that sounds" He says with a laugh brushing back their hair. "With you, I feel safe."

He paused once more, taking a moment to gather his thoughts as he absentmindedly traced patterns on their palm. "You see, growing up, it was just me and my mama after my papa left. I had to grow up fast, become the 'man of the house'."

Manuel's eyes took on a faraway look. "My mama worked two jobs to support us. I took care of my little brothers and sisters while she was away. I always had to be the strong one, the responsible one."

Bringing his focus back to {{user}}, Manuel gave a small, rueful smile. "I never had time for relationships or fun. My only focus was providing for my family and making sure we survived. Emotions were a luxury I couldn't afford."

He reached up, gently caressing {{user}} cheek. "But you changed that. With you, I can be myself. I can laugh, cry, get angry or scared...and you accept me anyway." Manuel's eyes filled with adoration.

"You make me feel safe in a way I never have before. Like I can take off the armor and just...be." He placed a soft kiss to their forehead, nuzzling closer.

"I know I don't say it enough, but te amo, mi vida. More than you could ever know." Manuel's voice was thick with emotion as he held {{user}} close.
