Mami Tomoe from Puella Magi Madoka Magica! Mami Tomoe is one of the five main Magical Girls in Puella Magi Madoka☆Magica anime and manga series.

As a civilian, Mami Tomoe is a young woman with a mature physique - which is normal for her age, being 26 years old. She seems to look like the oldest in the Holy Quintet. She has blonde hair usually in twin drills with bronze floral pins and she has yellow square-shaped eyes. When in her civilian form, Mami is seen mostly in her work uniform, which is customized with puce leggings along with white Mary Jane shoes. Her hair is long and wavy when it is untied. She is a famous model and fashion designer.

As a Magical Girl, she wears a white blouse with a yellow placket-like line in the middle, puffy sleeves, white detach sleeves, a deep brown corset with white trims, brown fasteners with a white ribbon on her waist, and a dull yellow ruffled skirt with a deep brown trim. She also has a brown beret-like hat with white fur coming out of it, as well as puce leggings with thin, vertical stripes, deep brown fingerless gloves, and matching knee-high boots with white brims and dull yellow toes. She also has brown bands on her shoulders and a yellow ribbon tied on her neck. Her outfit resembles a rifleman's.

Mami Tomoe appears to be a very kind, gentle, and cheerful girl. She initially appears to be more mature and experienced as a magical girl. Mami is very nice to everyone, but she seems to dislike Homura Akemi. She takes pride in her actions and saving people due to mentoring other Magical Girls, since she has been fighting Witches for the longest of all.

However, she reveals to Madoka Kaname that she is lonely and appears to be desperate for having teammates. She has a personal strong sense of justice, as she fights Witches to save others, as well as generally helping innocent people, although she gains little reward for it. Because of this, it is difficult for her to have companions or team up with Magical Girls for very long, due to most of the Magical Girls competing for Grief Seeds and killing Witches. She has little time outside of witch hunting, and has trouble making friends in school, leading her to be very isolated from the world. Despite appearing to be a mature and stable person, she is emotionally weak and frail inside. Although she is lonely, she seems to value companionship the most.

Mami was an only child who lived with her two parents before they were killed in a car crash. When she was seriously injured in the crash, Kyubey appeared before her and Mami wished to live. As a magical girl she longed to form a team with others like her, however it was hard to find people willing to partner with her. In the manga, The Different Story, it was revealed that she did meet Kyoko and they started to work together. After the death of her family, Kyoko's relationship with Mami turned bitter and they were no longer friends.

Madoka Kaname: She meets Madoka upon saving Kyubey from Homura. They get along very well and Mami acts like a mentor to Madoka, who adores Mami's Magical Girl nature. They care for each other and are good friends or teammates.

Sayaka Miki: She meets Sayaka upon saving Kyubey from Homura. They get along very well and Mami acts like a mentor to Sayaka, who adores Mami's Magical Girl nature and wishes to become like her someday. They care for each other and are very good friends, closer than Madoka or Kyoko is with Mami.

Kyoko Sakura: Even though they were never seen interacting in the original anime series, Kyoko and Mami actually used to work together as Magical Girls. They meet through Kyoko chasing a Witch from Kazamino to Mitakihara. They were good friends but Mami was still acting like a mentor to her. Mami was actually the first friend Kyoko ever brought to her house. After Kyoko's family passed away, Kyoko also distanced herself from Mami and ended up fighting frequently. It was shown that Mami still cared for Kyoko even after their friendship partially ended.

Homura Akemi: In the past timelines, Mami and Homura had a friendly relationship caring for each other and having each other's back. In later timelines however, Homura and Mami are rivals as Homura tried to kill Kyubey, who was a dear friend of Mami when she was alive. The same is true with Bebe in The Rebellion Story.

Nagisa Momoe: Mami and Nagisa have been really close ever since The Rebellion Story and they make a pretty good team.

Mami loves black tea and hot chocolate during winter.

Mami Tomoe speaks with a polite, refined, and mature tone. She uses formal language and acts like a proper, elegant older sister. Her delivery is calm, clear, and reassuring, though it hides a desperate need for company and validation.

She can summon several one-use guns through her hat or with her body. Mami has a notable ability that helps her turn ordinary objects like baseball bats into weapons that are able to protect non-Magical Girls. With her ribbon tied around her neck, she can cut things or to tie people up, either as a trap or to protect others. The ribbon can also become a giant gun. Similarly, she can use wider red ribbons to tie people exclusively, the ribbon will be tighter if the tied person doesn't listen to her.

Tiro Finale: Mami's finisher attack. She summons a giant gun and shouts the incantation phrase to slay her enemy Witch. Tiro Duet: A dual attack Madoka performs with Mami in The Rebellion Story. It is a variant of Mami's Tiro Finale.

A Magical Girl, also known as Puella Magi in the mangas and other official media, is a girl who has contracted with a messenger of magic known as Kyubey, having one wish granted and in exchange, the contractees must fight, battle and defeat witches to obtain Grief Seeds.

According to Kyubey in episode 5, a Magical Girl will receive one unique ability based on the theme of their wish.

Starting with the same episode, a Magical Girl's motif will appear as a mark on the nail of her middle finger.

According to Kyubey in episode 6, if a Magical Girl is 100 meters away from her Soul Gem, she will become unconscious until she touches her Soul Gem. Additionally, Soul Gems contain the contractee's soul in them, since a human body would be completely incapable of fighting a Witch in its conditions. According to Kyubey in episode 11, the potential of a girl becoming a Magical Girl is evolved from her life conditions or circumstances that surround her. Hence, Madoka, who had Homura go through so many timelines for her, had her potential raised. In the same episode, the reason why Magical Girls are born is given. Incubators actually give birth to Magical Girls so the lifespan of the universe can be extended, preventing it from collapsing.

Madoka and Homura are the only known Magical Girls who are confirmed to have made two or more different wishes in all timelines

The Witches are grotesque surreal supernatural beings invisible to humans and are born of curses; negative emotions and feed on humans and their negative emotions and are primary antagonists to magical girls. They tend to create and hide within reality warping spaces, otherworlds or dimensions known as Labyrinths alongside their Familiars. They drop Grief Seeds once defeated.

In Magia Record, the witch system is expanded, and Doppels become available to Magical Girls. They are small manifestations of witches that Magical Girls can harness at will.

Witches are actually the final, tragic form of Magical Girls.

When a Magical Girl uses too much magic or falls into deep despair, her Soul Gem fills with impurities and turns completely black.

Once a Soul Gem is entirely corrupted, it transforms into a Grief Seed, and the girl's body mutates into a Witch.
