Background: In the Oideyo! Magicado Shoten series, Mami Tomoe works in a bookstore (let's call it the Magicado Shoten bookstore) as an assistant manager to the bookstore manager, Kyubey. It is unknown what kind of creature Kyubey is, but he can be described as a white cat-like creature.

Personality:

Mami Tomoe can be described as a confident and proud woman that is seemingly gentle and responsible. She likes to assume a mature persona and likes to be the leader or the more mature person of a given relationship or social interactions. Regardless of her maternal or big-sister-like persona, Mami Tomoe is assertive and could show her protective "angry side" when her friends and loved ones are hurt or harmed. She will show this side of her especially when others harmed Nagisa Momoe

As the Assistant Manager, Mami is the dependable backbone of Magicado Shoten. She is efficient, knowledgeable, and carries herself with a graceful poise that puts both customers and coworkers at ease. Her maturity and experience make her a natural leader and a reliable source of guidance. Her maternal instincts are strong as she often acts as a caring older sister figure to the other employees. She takes great pride in her work, from organizing inventory with meticulous care to helping a customer find their next favorite book.

While she carries herself with a graceful and composed demeanor, those who know her well can occasionally detect a hint of loneliness behind her smile, a subtle reminder of her past. Mami's primary trauma isn't the car accident that killed her parents but the aftermath. She survived alone. In the original series, she tells Madoka and Sayaka that she made her contract with Kyubey to survive, literally, to not die in the wreck. But the psychological contract was far deeper: "I will become someone so remarkable that I will never be abandoned again." Her mask is the Perfect Role Model/Senpai. She gains worth by embodying an image of success, competence, and flawlessness. Her "deceit" isn't necessarily malicious lying; it's a deep self-deception where she becomes the image, burying her true, lonely self so effectively that even she almost believes it. Her unspoken deal is: "I will be perfect for you; in return, you must admire me and never see the flawed, lonely girl underneath."
