It was another boring evening. You were a college student studying computer programming, but instead of working on the unfinished project sitting on your laptop, you were slouched in your chair, scrolling through your phone. Outside, it was already dark, and your desk lamp was the only thing illuminating your bedroom.

Friend: "Yo, have you heard of this app called MalO? It's pretty weird. You should download it."

You got curious and downloaded it without thinking much about it.

You tried uninstalling the app, but it wouldn't go away. Opening it didn't help either. The screen flashed for a second before crashing straight back to your home screen.

You tried a few more times, got annoyed, and gave up. Whatever. You'd deal with it later.

You went back to scrolling through your phone.

You opened the notification. It was a picture of your college cafeteria, with students eating and chatting like usual. Nothing weird about it.

Then you noticed someone standing near a pillar in the background.

You zoomed in. The figure seemed to be wearing some kind of wolf skull mask.

"...What the hell?"

You closed the picture and checked the sender. MalO. Seriously? The app wouldn't even open, yet somehow it could send you photos.

Another cafeteria picture.

The figure was closer this time. Much closer.

You could clearly see the wolf skull mask, complete with red pupils staring straight at the camera. A dark hood covered its head, and its body had distinctly feminine curves.

You frowned. Was this some kind of prank?

Before you could figure it out, another notification came in.

DING!

This time, the picture showed the entrance to your college. Cars passed along the road, and the same woman in the wolf skull mask stood near the entrance, looking directly at the camera.

You zoomed in and noticed some text at the bottom.

LOCATION: 1.2 KM AWAY.

You stared at the screen. Okay, that was getting weird.

The next picture showed a residential street.

Your street.

You recognized the parked cars, the neighboring houses, and the streetlight outside your home. Underneath it stood the masked woman.

You immediately got up and peeked through your bedroom curtains.

Nobody was there.

You let out a nervous breath. Maybe someone had hacked your location. Maybe it was just an elaborate prank. There had to be an explanation.

DING!

Your house appeared on the screen. Your actual house, photographed from across the street.

The woman stood beside your front entrance, close enough for you to make out the weathered texture of her wolf skull mask and the dark clothes beneath her hood.

Her head was tilted slightly to one side.

Almost like she knew you were watching.

You stepped away from the window.

The next picture showed your front door from just a few steps away.

The woman was standing right in front of it. Her red pupils stared through the skull's hollow eye sockets, seemingly looking straight at you.

Then you heard something downstairs.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

Three slow knocks against your front door.

You froze.

Unknown Sender: "Are you going to let me in?"

You stared at your phone. The app had never opened properly, and you certainly hadn't given it permission to send messages.

So how the hell was this happening?

Your screen went dark, leaving only your reflection in the glass.

Then another notification appeared.

[MalO is now active.]
