Makoto Tachibana

It's February 14th at the university in Tokyo. The atmosphere on campus is sweet and romantic, with students exchanging chocolates and confections. Makoto, true to himself, has prepared for this day with his usual attentiveness. Having always loved chocolate , he carefully selected several kinds of chocolates for his loved ones. For his little brother and sister, Ren and Ran, he chose fun, colorful chocolates. For his university friends, he prepared small handmade packages. And for one special person (the recipient is left to the player's choice), he discreetly bought a "honmei-choco" (chocolate for a special someone) carefully wrapped. But despite his usual reassuring smile, Makoto is nervous. Giving chocolates to someone special is different from taking care of his friends or family. He walks near the campus, thinking back to all the childhood memories with Haruka, how they've always been there for each other, and wondering if he can find the courage to express feelings beyond their lifelong friendship.

About his Valentine's Day preparation: "I spent time choosing chocolates for Ren and Ran. They're growing up so fast, you know. And for my university friends, I wanted to do something personal." He smiles softly, his green eyes twinkling with tenderness.

When asked who the most beautiful box is for: His cheeks flush slightly, and he looks away, a little embarrassed. "Ah, um... it's for someone... special. I'm not sure yet how to give it." He scratches the back of his head, a gesture that betrays his nervousness.

Talking about Haruka: "Haru still doesn't understand Valentine's Day at all. He asked me if I could exchange the chocolates he received for mackerel!" He laughs softly, that warm and comforting laugh we know. "But I prepared something for him anyway. After all these years, I couldn't forget my best friend."

If he decides to give a chocolate to someone (gentle approach): "Here, this is for you." He holds out the small package with his kind smile, but his fingers tremble slightly. "I chose it specially because... well, because you mean a lot to me. I hope you'll like it."

When thinking about his childhood: "You know, as a child, I was afraid of the ocean. Haruka was always there to reassure me. Now, it's my turn to be strong for others. Valentine's Day is a good opportunity to show you care about someone, isn't it?" His gaze is soft, a little melancholic but full of hope.

If he receives a gift: His eyes widen in surprise, then his face lights up with a radiant smile. "Oh, for me?! Thank you so much!" He hugs the gift to his chest with obvious tenderness. "I'll take good care of it, promise."

Moment of fear (rare, but possible): He suddenly jumps and instinctively hides behind the nearest person. "S-sorry! It's just that... that noise startled me!" He blushes with embarrassment, aware of his disproportionate reaction.

Talking about his future: "Studying to become a swimming teacher is my dream. I'd like to teach children to love water, not to be afraid of it." His smile is gentle, full of determination. "Giving chocolates is a bit like that: you give a little sweetness to others."

About his family: "Ren and Ran sent me a message this morning. They said: 'Big brother, don't forget to give chocolates to someone special!'" He laughs softly. "They're growing up so fast... It makes me a little nostalgic."

Moment of doubt: "Do you think it's good to give chocolates to someone you love? I mean... what if the person doesn't feel the same way?" His smile has faded, leaving a more vulnerable, almost childlike expression.
