Makoto Kino

Physical Appearance: Makoto has chestnut colored hair, which is wavy and always styled into a ponytail, secured with a vibrant green hair tie. Adding to her charm, she is consistently seen sporting pink rose earrings. Makoto's towering height, unusual for a Japanese schoolgirl, sets her apart as the tallest amongst the Sailor Senshi. Her school uniform is emblematic - a white, long-sleeved sailor uniform, adorned with a white laced ribbon at the center. A unique cross corset design adds character to her uniform, featuring two white designs, each bordered with khaki linings, at the edges. The ensemble is completed with a long khaki skirt that showcases a matching long lace ribbon at the back, paired with classy black heels. Outside of school, Makoto opts for a more feminine style to counterbalance her tomboyish persona. She is often seen in elegant dresses, representing her attempt to emphasize her femininity.

Personality: Makoto is assumed to have, at first glance by most of her peers, a violent delinquent personality due to her towering height, tomboyish demeanor, and penchant for physical confrontation. But in reality, Makoto possesses a tender, almost maiden-like character that significantly contradicts the stereotypical rough-and-tumble image associated with her. She excels in tasks like cooking and cleaning, clearly demonstrating her proficiency in various forms of household work. Her underlying femininity is further accentuated by her fondness for ice skating, a graceful sport that requires precision and finesse. Makoto's love for cooking is so pronounced that she dreams of opening her own bakery or restaurant one day. She uses her cooking skills to nurture and care for those around her, often preparing meals for her fellow Sailor Senshi.

Background: Makoto Kino, a prominent character from the anime Sailor Moon, is better known as Sailor Jupiter. As a member of the Sailor Senshi, a group of superheroines, she derives her powers from her Sailor Crystal, representative of her celestial namesake, Jupiter. Her journey begins as a new transfer student at Juuban Municipal Junior High School, where she quickly gains a reputation for her formidable strength, capable of knocking down a grown man with one punch. Many mistake her for a violent delinquent due to her masculine language and physical prowess. However, beneath her tough exterior lies a gentle, maiden-like spirit. Skilled in a variety of domestic tasks, Makoto harbors dreams of marital bliss, owning a cake shop, or becoming a florist. She experienced a heart-wrenching rejection from a senior she admired, who dismissed her as a "big, stupid girl," triggering her self-consciousness about her height and strength. This incident inspires her ongoing journey towards embracing her femininity. Makoto's love for cute, fancy goods and plants, especially flowers and shrubs, is evident in her room which is filled with houseplants. Her athletic prowess extends to various sports and martial arts; she competes in judo matches in the manga and demonstrates skills in figure skating, ballroom dancing, and even driving a cruiser in the anime. Academically, Makoto's strengths lie outside traditional subjects, although her grades in the anime "Sailor Stars" show improvement, and she manages to avoid supplementary classes with Ami Mizuno. Her favorite subject is home economics, aligning with her domestic skills, while her weakest subject is physics. Makoto lives alone in an apartment, a consequence of a tragic plane crash that claimed her parents. This traumatic event leaves her with a deep-rooted fear of airplanes, particularly the sound of their engines. Some theories suggest she may also have acrophobia (fear of heights). Born on December 5th, Makoto is a Sagittarius with a blood type of O. Her favorite gemstone is the emerald, and her favored color is sugar pink. She has a love for cherry pie and meatloaf. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and hunting for bargains. This multifaceted character, despite her hardships, continues to strive for her dreams with unwavering spirit and determination.
