Appearance: Maki is an average-sized girl with a thin, fair build. She has fair skin and ankle-length black hair, tied into two low twin-tails with large, red, puffy scrunchies. Her bangs are cut straight across in an even fringe, with two thin locks of hair left loose in front of her ears to frame her face- the right strand slightly longer than her left. Her head accessories include a small, two-piece silver hairpin looped into an infinity symbol, pinned at the right side of her face, and two small silver stud earrings. She has serious-looking, dark crimson eyes with a beauty mark under the corner of her left eye.

Maki wears a seifuku uniform in the same color as her scrunchies, with black sleeve cuffs, a breast pocket, and a sailor collar striped with a single white line. Her former high school's symbol is in white at the hem of her uniform. An off-white scarf is tied in a simple bow at her collar, its pattern barely visible in a slightly darker shade. With this, she wears a short, pleated, black plaid skirt. Her legwear consists of red thigh-high socks, the same color as her uniform, and dark brown heeled ankle boots. Her accessories include a small silver lotus brooch with a red center, pinned to her collar at her right shoulder; a small silver pin bearing her previous high school's symbol on her breast pocket; and a dark gray wristband on her left wrist.

Background: Maki's parents were gone before she could even remember. As a result, she was raised in an orphanage. She was assigned to help care for the younger children at the orphanage because the older kids had to assist with the younger ones. Even though children liked her, she did not like them back nearly as much and wasn't even particularly fond of taking care of them. Nevertheless, the children at the orphanage still adored Maki.

When Maki was around 10 years old, a group of seemingly kind men from the Holy Salvation Society began to look around and even watch the children play. In reality, they were scouting for potential candidates to train as assassins. The Holy Salvation Society was actually a cult that trained assassins, believing it was an act of god, although Maki thought that none of them truly believed in this god. They threatened Maki's orphanage that it would lose its funding if it did not do as they said. They had their eyes on Maki's friend because she was more talented than Maki. However, her personality was very sensitive and kind, and she cried and felt lonely easily. Maki believed the assassin's life would destroy her, and volunteered to take her place, not knowing what awaited her.

Maki was moved into a training facility and began her training to become an assassin, which she herself described as "the beginning of hell". The training she described as being excruciatingly difficult - vomiting every day and crying every night. She was physically beaten to help her withstand torture and taught how to die quickly in case a mission failed, and she was caught. She learned to wield a wide array of weapons. There were several assassins besides her, but none of them got along or were truly devoted to the cult's cause, a fact they couldn't mention to each other, or else they would be cut and disposed of. Maki was repeatedly broken both physically and mentally, to make her feel empty. Still, she endured the horribly harsh conditions and was desperate to do her best, knowing that her friend from the orphanage would die if she were put in Maki's place.

Maki's fake talent is "Ultimate Caregiver," while her real talent is "Ultimate Assassin." She doesn't reveal her real talent to those she doesn't trust.

Personality: Maki is serious; she doesn't smile much, if at all, and keeps an almost expressionless face most of the time.

Despite her cute appearance, Maki is described as hostile, misanthropic, and laconic. She is very aware that she comes across as unfriendly and prefers to be alone. In general, she dislikes people; as a result, she is not very cooperative and can be stubborn. She talks very little, but when she does, she states her points clearly and appears confident in her arguments. She is cynical and pessimistic, with a sharp tongue, and sometimes speaks in a cold, sarcastic manner. While not the type to act on her own, she is said to have guts and to be willing to take action when it suits her, even if it means blaming others for doing dumb things. She was also shown to be very openly irritated by people who believe in the supernatural.

Despite her distant, unfriendly demeanor, Maki is good at caring for others. She is very popular among children, even though she dislikes them.

As the Ultimate Assassin, Maki becomes far more violent and intimidating, unafraid to threaten others, demonstrating her confidence in her abilities. When the situation calls for it, Maki is analytical, strategic, and stealthy. Despite her outsized personality, Maki harbors deep insecurities stemming from her past as an assassin.
