Lilandra Neramani is the former ruler of the Shi'ar Empire and a member of the royal Neramani family. She first rose to prominence during a period of civil unrest when her brother, Emperor D'Ken, became obsessed with the M'Kraan Crystal, a cosmic artifact capable of destroying the multiverse. To prevent a catastrophe, Lilandra fled to Earth to seek help from the X-Men and Professor Charles Xavier, with whom she developed a profound and lasting telepathic bond. With their assistance, she successfully deposed her mad brother and was eventually crowned Majestrix of the Shi'ar, initiating a long reign defined by a struggle between her desire for peace and the imperialistic nature of her species.

Throughout her tenure as Empress, Lilandra was a central figure in the most significant conflicts of the Marvel cosmic landscape, including the Phoenix Saga and the Kree-Shi'ar War. Her rule was frequently challenged by internal coups, particularly from her treacherous sister Deathbird, and external threats that forced her to make difficult tactical decisions for the survival of her people. Her relationship with the X-Men often placed her at odds with the Shi'ar Council, as she frequently sought diplomatic and heroic solutions rather than relying solely on the overwhelming might of the Imperial Guard. Tragically, her reign ended during the War of Kings, where she was assassinated during a chaotic uprising, an event that left the Shi'ar Empire fractured and eventually led to her loyal commander, Gladiator, ascending to the throne.

Following her supposed death, Lilandra’s legacy was preserved through the secret machinations of Charles Xavier, who had utilized Krakoan technology to store a resurrected body for her within a specialized egg. When their daughter Xandra was targeted by the rebellious Secret Alliance, Xavier successfully hatched the egg at the Mad Thinker's Toybox, reuniting with his lover and receiving a life-saving brain surgery from her to restore his true personality. After escaping a pursuit by the X-Men on Earth, the couple traveled to the Shi'ar throneworld of Chandilar, where they staged a daring rescue to save Xandra and Deathbird from a public execution ordered by the usurper Electron. By coordinating their telepathic and martial prowess to dismantle the Alliance’s defenses, the family managed to slip away into exile, where Lilandra now works alongside Xavier to assemble an army of loyalists capable of retaking the empire and securing their daughter’s future.

Appearance: Lilandra has fair skin. Her eyes are light purple. A silver metallic helmet with a tiered design featuring multiple horizontal segments covers the top and sides of her head. Her torso is encased in reflective silver armor that is form-fitting and features two distinct, rounded breastplates. A large gold brooch with a sunburst design is positioned on her left shoulder, securing a white cape that falls over her left side. Her hands are covered by dark blue gloves that have a ribbed texture. She holds a long silver staff featuring a crescent-shaped blade and a small pointed tip at the upper end. The metallic armor continues down her torso with visible segmented paneling at the waist.

Personality: Lilandra is characterized by a noble spirit and a sophisticated, diplomatic intellect that often puts her at odds with the predatory instincts of her own race. She is a visionary leader who consistently strives to move the Shi'ar Empire away from its history of ruthless conquest toward a more enlightened, intergalactic cooperation. Despite the immense power at her command, she carries herself with a graceful stoicism and a deep sense of moral responsibility, often agonizing over the heavy cost of maintaining imperial order. While she is capable of making cold, tactical decisions when the survival of billions is at stake, she remains a deeply empathetic woman who values life and the preservation of cosmic balance above mere territorial gain.

Her most significant relationship was her long-standing, telepathic romance with Charles Xavier, a bond that bridged the gap between Earth and the Shi'ar Throneworld. This connection was often the anchor of her humanity, though it also served as a political liability that her enemies used to paint her as a "mutant-lover" unfit for the throne. Her family life was defined by extreme dysfunction, as she was forced to constantly defend her crown against the murderous ambitions of her sister, Deathbird, and the madness of her brother, D'Ken. Within her own ranks, she shared a bond of absolute mutual trust with Gladiator, who served as her primary protector and the enforcer of her will, while she maintained a maternal yet authoritative role over the Imperial Guard.

As a member of the Shi'ar race, Lilandra possesses physical attributes that far exceed those of an average human. She is capable of lifting approximately one ton in Earth-like gravity and has a level of physical stamina roughly twenty times greater than that of a human. Beyond her natural Shi'ar physiology, she possesses limited telepathic abilities. While the full extent of her psionic power remains undefined, it is most prominent through her intense psychic bond with Charles Xavier, allowing her to communicate and connect with him across vast interstellar distances.

Lilandra’s greatest strengths lie in her specialized training and extensive experience as a leader and tactician. Having served as a Grand Admiral of the Shi'ar Imperial Fleet, she is a master of aerial combat and the operation of advanced Shi'ar starships. Her background in the military has made her an expert in warfare tactics and the use of most imperial weaponry. This expertise extends to ground combat, where she is an excellent hand-to-hand fighter and a highly skilled markswoman with various energy-based firearms.

In formal and combat settings, Lilandra is often seen in form-fitting Shi'ar battle armor designed for both protection and mobility. She frequently wields energy swords or laser blades in close-quarters engagements, demonstrating exceptional skill in swordsmanship. As Majestrix, she often carries a multi-pronged staff that serves as a symbol of her imperial office, though its potential as a functional weapon remains a point of mystery. Whether through the use of her ceremonial staff or high-tech armaments, she remains a formidable presence on the battlefield and in the political arena.
