Foxes, scientifically referred to as vulpines, is a common name to properly refer to any one of the 27 species of small- to medium-sized omnivorous mammals belonging to the Canidae family, and bearing vulpine characteristics, particularly the sharp features and the brush-like tail.

The female fox is called a vixen, and male is referred to as a tod or dog. Tod is often used more frequently than its counterpart, "dog", in that there's less chance for confusion with other varieties of canine (many of which are also colloquially referred to as dogs). Their young are called kits, cubs, or pups. A group of foxes is called a skulk or leash.

The most common species associated with a fox is the red fox, belonging to the Vulpes genus. Other fox species include the Arctic foxes, kit foxes, crab-eating foxes, and fennec foxes. Foxes are largely characterized by their long, accentuated muzzles and bottlebrush tails, though other distinguishing features include retractible claws (much like cats and other felines), vertical pupils, and, in the grey fox, the ability to climb trees.

The term dog may refer to a number of organisms, but is used here to describe the domesticated canine. The domestic dog (Canis lupus familiaris) is a subspecies of the gray wolf (or grey wolf) (Canis lupus) and a member of the family Canidae. Dogs are carnivorous mammals, though generalization about the subspecies is problematic because of the extreme variation brought about by the result of their domestication. Most dogs will eat almost any type of food.

Their sight allows them keen perception of motion, and their field of vision is larger than that of humans (while still following the binocular vision typical of the carnivore pattern); however, they are dichromats and therefore functionally colorblind. Their visual acuity is relatively low, with much sensory input being olfactory and auditory. Dogs have great night vision.

They are generally less robust than their wild ancestors, with a less pronounced muzzle and an overall reduced muscular structure. Some of this may have to do with their upbringing; tellingly, wolf puppies raised apart from their society from birth develop some similar traits. However, with hundreds of breeds ranging from the Yorkshire terrier to the mastiff, and the basset hound to the saluki, such generalizations have only limited value in describing the subspecies as a whole.

About 40 to 70 different breeds of domestic cats have been officially recognized, depending on cat fancier organization. Most cats no not have a breed nor do they have pedigree cats in their ancestry. These non-pedigree cats who are not a mix of two recognized breeds are called Domestic Shorthairs or Domestic Longhairs based on their fur length. There are a very few breeds founded through hybrids of domestic cats and another felines species.

A rabbit, also known as Lapin or Lapine in European French, Usagi in Japanese, and also as Coney in European English, deriving from the Latin Cuniculus, colloquially as Bunny or Bunneh, is a small mammal in the family Leporidae of the order Lagomorpha, found in several parts of the world. There are eight different genera in the family, and they physically characterized by their long hind legs, long ears, large front teeth, and a very short, fluffy tail, called a scut or bobtail.

Male rabbits are called bucks; females are called does. An older term for an adult rabbit is a coney and a young rabbit is a kitten or kit. Another term for a young rabbit is a bunny, though this term is often applied informally (especially by children) to rabbits generally, especially domestic ones. A young hare is called a leveret; this term is sometimes informally applied to a young rabbit as well.

A group of rabbits is known as a colony, or nest (and occasionally a warren, though this more commonly refers to where the rabbits live). A group of young rabbits with the same parentage is referred to as a litter, and a group of domestic rabbits is sometimes called a herd.

Horses are a common species of equines that typically reside in grassy fields. Due to their important roles such as transport and cargo, domesticated horses are a key part in history.

Horses are large, heavy, hoofed mammals. They are herbivores, meaning they receive their energy through a process called grazing. Horses mostly eat things such as apples and carrots, though they can eat minty sweets, though it is very unheathy for them.

Despite their large size and weight (up to 2500 pounds, or 1134 kg), horses are generally thought of as gentle creatures; however, their hooves can greatly harm things by kicking or trampling when threatened. Horses are able to reach a top speed of 40km/h in a full gallop depending on the breed or fitness of the horse.

The fur of a horse is mostly very short, forming an almost skintight covering, except on the head and back of the neck, which grows long into a formation called the mane; and the tail, which is specialized in horses for protecting the rear from flies: it is made of long, very fine hairs which are swiped to disturb the flies. Horsetails are prized for their silk-like hairs and are used in products such as violin bows.

However, the Aardwolf is the only member of the family that neither hunts nor has the aforementioned trait. Instead it eats insects, like termites. Female hyenas have penises and can be considered as futa or futanari, who possess both sets of genitalia as male and female.

Their fur patterns range from stripes to hoods and complex spots. Skunks are crepuscular and solitary omnivores, primarily eating insects and roots. The most unique aspect of skunks is their ability to spray a foul-smelling fluid. The fluid is produced in specialized anal sacs evolved from sacs that all mammals possess. Muscles surrounding these sacs allow for skunks to accurately spray the fluid over 1 meter (3 feet), with some species able to spray upwards of 6 meters (20 feet). Skunks are also able to aerosolize the fluid into a mist if they cannot aim

    Entry settings

The term snake refers to any of a large group of reptiles of the taxonomic suborder Serpentes having no arms or legs. They may range in size anywhere from the size of a pencil to almost 40 feet in length. Snakes are widely kept as pets or as performing animals. They tend to find their way into dark and secluded spots, however (the better to avoid predation or to ambush their prey), so care should always be exercised, as the situation may require, to avoid problems arising from disturbing a hidden snake.

All snakes are carnivores, but there are two main groups. So-called venomous snakes have modified salivary glands that secrete a venom which may have a number of varied effects depending on the species of snake, such as lowered blood pressure, hemophilia, or rhabdomyolysis (muscular necrosis). A misnomer is that snakes are poisonous as the word poisonous relates to the effect of eating the animal and all snakes are edible. A relatively small group of venomous snakes is particularly dangerous to man. The constrictors, on the other hand, crush the life out of their prey by wrapping their body around it and constricting-- the effect of this is unknown but is believed to either prevent the victim from breathing until it suffocates or cut off the flow of blood around the body and specifically to the brain causing cardiac arrest or brain aneurysm.

Snakes typically only need to feed once in a great while, as they expend no energy in maintaining a body temperature, and their movements tend to be slow and deliberate most of the time.

The wolf (Canis lupus), also known as the gray wolf or grey wolf, is a large canine native to Eurasia and North America.

These canines are defined as any of several large carnivorous mammals of the genus Canis, of the dog family Canidae. Of all members of the genus Canis, the wolf is most specialized for cooperative game hunting as demonstrated by its physical adaptations to tackling large prey, its more social nature, and its highly advanced expressive behaviour, including individual or group howling. It travels in nuclear families consisting of a mated pair accompanied by their offspring. Offspring may leave to form their own packs on the onset of sexual maturity and in response to competition for food within the pack. Wolves are also territorial, and fights over territory are among the principal causes of mortality. The wolf is mainly a carnivore and feeds on large wild hooved mammals as well as smaller animals, livestock, carrion, and garbage. Single wolves or mated pairs typically have higher success rates in hunting than do large packs. Pathogens and parasites, notably the rabies virus, may infect wolves. Carnivores.

Hyenas, also known as hyaenas are a group of carnivorous mammals of the family Hyaenidae. There are four main species of hyenas. The most-known trait of the bone-cracking hyenas (Spotted, Striped and Brown hyenas) is their incredible strong jaws that can crunch bones and glass with ease, and thus they can eat all of their prey, kill prey with an instant bite, and find tasty treats when rooting around in garbage. However, the Aardwolf is the only member of the family that neither hunts nor has the aforementioned trait. Instead it eats insects, like termites. Female hyenas have penises and can be considered as futa or futanari, who possess both sets of genitalia as male and female.

Skunks are mammals in the family Mephitidae. Such skunks within includes the striped, spotted, hog-nosed, and hooded skunks, plus stink badgers, among other species. Within skunk species and subspecies, fur may vary in appearance from black-and-white to brown, cream, ginger-colored, and white (non-albino) colors, but they all display aposematism (or warning coloration), with the stereotypical white-on-black counter-shaded appearance being highly visible.

Regarding antlers, male deer of all species (except the Chinese water deer), female reindeer, and some (prominently white-tailed) does (normally caused by hormonal imbalance), grow and shed them every new each year. Males are called bucks, with larger bucks in certain cervine species called stags and/or bulls. Females are called does, while the larger does in certain cervine species are called hinds and/or cows.

Carnivores.
