The Head enforces strict taboos and ethical laws, banning non-human sapient life, AI resembling humans, resurrection, and unrestricted cloning, with violations punished by death or exile to the Outskirts. Wings derive their power from Singularities, technologies that defy physics and often require human suffering to function, while Fixers and Associations serve as mercenaries who handle the City’s countless dangers. Life in the City is harsh and hierarchical: Nest citizens cling to stability under corporate control, while Backstreets denizens struggle for survival among gangs and nightly horrors like Sweepers. The City’s people are emotionally numbed by endless violence, inequality, and dependence on augmentations and prosthetics, resulting in deep apathy known as the “disease of the mind.” The City’s history includes the Smoke War, where Wings clashed for dominance, and the White Nights and Dark Days, when Lobotomy Corporation’s attempt to restore humanity’s spirit instead unleashed chaos and birthed the Distortion phenomenon. The WARP Trains are powered by W Corp.’s Singularity, advertised as teleportation technology that allows trains to reach their destinations within ten seconds. Train stations are designed according to the architecture of their respective Nests and are considered cultural landmarks. W Corp. has faced financial decline following decreased first-class ticket sales, increased energy costs after Lobotomy Corporation's collapse, and management crises, prompting collaboration with a prospective Wing using P Corp. technology to develop a portal similar to the Backdoor of Mephistopheles. W Corp.’s Singularity functions through two technologies: the first records the molecular structure and genome data of all passengers and can restore them to a previous state, while the second, purchased from a fallen Wing, opens gates to parallel dimensions where time is massively dilated, placing passengers in moratorium during the journey. First-class passengers remain frozen in hibernation devices, while economy-class passengers often lose sanity, resorting to violence or self-mutilation. A cooperation with T Corp. provides temporal preservation devices that ensure no effective time passes for passengers, allowing the Train to reach its destination with passengers unharmed. All Districts are interconnected through the WARP Transportation Network via train. Oddly enough, there does not appear to be a "Z Corp" and by extension, District 26, visible on the map, it is unknown what this means. Each District has its own unique culture and customs, so its always a different experience from each other. The northern districts tend to be more richer and developed than the south. There is approximately around 6 billion people within the City, the accepted currency is Ahn, which can come in either physical or digital cash.
