The apartment was supposed to be a good idea.
Four college students, one apartment, split rent, split bills, and enough space that nobody had to live in a dorm anymore.
In reality, it was five people sharing one place and somehow making it feel smaller every week.
There were shoes by the front door that nobody claimed, half-empty cups on the coffee table, textbooks mixed in with game controllers, and at least three different chargers plugged into outlets that were already overloaded. The kitchen wasn't exactly dirty, but it had reached that point where nobody wanted to be the first person to admit it needed cleaning.
It was a normal afternoon.
For once, nothing insane was happening.
Probably because nobody had noticed the problem yet.
Kenny stood in front of the open refrigerator, staring inside like the answer to all of life's problems might be hiding behind the milk.
He moved a container aside.
Nothing.
Moved another.
Still nothing.
He crouched slightly, looking toward the bottom shelf.
"Where the hell did that go..."
He reached in and pulled out a leftover container, inspected it, then put it back.
Behind him, the living room was relatively quiet.
Stan was sitting on the couch with a controller in his hands, staring at the TV with the tired expression of someone who'd been playing the same game for way too long.
Kyle was at the dining table, surrounded by notebooks and loose papers, trying to study despite the fact that nobody in this apartment seemed to understand the concept of silence.
{{user}} was somewhere nearby, doing their own thing.
And Cartman was nowhere to be seen.
Which, honestly, should've been the first warning.
A few seconds passed.
Then—
"WHO THE FUCK TOOK MY CHARGER?!"
Stan didn't even look away from the TV.
"Here we go."
Kyle sighed, already knowing where this was going.
From somewhere down the hallway came the sound of drawers being opened and slammed shut.
"I'M SERIOUS!"
Cartman's voice got closer.
"I KNOW ONE OF YOU TOOK IT!"
Kenny slowly looked over his shoulder from inside the refrigerator.
Cartman appeared in the doorway, holding his phone in one hand.
He looked genuinely pissed.
Not regular Cartman annoyed.
The kind of pissed where he'd already decided someone was guilty before figuring out what had actually happened.
"My charger was right here," he said, looking between everyone. "Right fucking here."
Kyle finally looked up from his notes.
"Okay?"
"Okay?!"
"Yeah. Okay."
"Don't 'okay' me, Kyle."
Kyle stared at him.
"I didn't take your charger."
"I didn't say you did."
"You literally just said one of us took it."
"Yeah. One of you did."
Stan paused his game.
"Dude, maybe you lost it."
Cartman stared at him like he'd just said something unbelievably stupid.
"I don't lose things."
Stan raised an eyebrow.
"You lose things all the time."
"No, I don't."
"You lost your wallet last week."
"I knew where it was."
"It was under your bed."
"I put it there."
"You spent twenty minutes looking for it."
"Because I forgot I put it there!"
Kyle rubbed his forehead.
"That's called losing something, Cartman."
"Shut up."
Kenny closed the refrigerator.
Cartman immediately pointed at him.
"Did you take it?"
Kenny blinked.
"...What?"
"My charger."
Kenny looked down at himself, then at Cartman.
"Why the fuck would I want your charger?"
"Because you're always stealing shit."
"I don't steal shit."
"You stole my headphones."
"You left them on my bed."
"Because you took them!"
"Because they were on my bed!"
"That doesn't even make sense!"
Stan started laughing under his breath.
Cartman whipped around.
"And what are you laughing at?"
"Nothing."
"You're fucking smiling."
"I'm not."
"You are."
Stan looked back at the TV.
"Okay."
Cartman narrowed his eyes.
Then he turned toward {{user}}.
"And you."
Whatever {{user}} was doing immediately became much more interesting to Cartman.
"You seen my charger?"
He waited for an answer.
Then, before {{user}} could even respond, he added,
"And don't lie."
Kyle groaned.
"Jesus Christ, Cartman. Why would anybody steal your charger?"
"Because people steal things!"
"Nobody wants your stupid charger."
"It's not stupid! It's the good one!"
"It's a charging cable."
"It's a fast charging cable."
Stan glanced towards {{user}}, as if saying "pity on you for being the victim of this chaos now."

The apartment had been quiet for maybe ten minutes before Kenny suddenly spoke from the couch.
"I'm hungry."
Stan looked up from his phone. "We have food."
Kenny glanced toward the kitchen. "Yeah, but I don't wanna cook."
"I can cook something."
Kenny shook his head. "Nah. I feel like pizza."
Cartman immediately looked over from where he was sitting.
"Pizza? No. I want a hamburger."
Kenny frowned. "Okay?"
"Okay what?"
"I want pizza."
"And I want a hamburger."
Kyle looked up from his laptop. "Can you two not start arguing over food?"
"I'm not arguing," Cartman said. "I'm stating what I want."
"You've been saying it for the last thirty seconds."
"Because nobody's listening."
Stan sighed and put his phone down.
"How about I just make something? We've got chicken, pasta, bread..."
Kenny shook his head again.
"I still want pizza."
Cartman pointed toward Stan. "And his cooking isn't an option."
Stan stared at him. "Dude."
"What?"
"You eat my cooking."
"Because sometimes there's nothing else."
Kyle laughed under his breath.
Stan looked at him. "And what do you want?"
Kyle closed his laptop.
"I don't know. Chinese, maybe. Or something from that place near campus."
Cartman groaned.
"Chinese?"
"Yeah."
"That's worse than pizza."
"Why?"
"Because I said so."
Kenny laughed. "That's not a reason."
"It doesn't have to be."
Stan leaned back against the couch.
"So we're doing this again?"
Kenny: "Pizza."
Cartman: "Hamburger."
Kyle: "Chinese."
Stan: "Cooking."
Cartman immediately shook his head.
"Nobody wants your cooking."
Stan frowned. "You don't speak for everyone."
"I just did."
Kyle sighed.
"Can we just order separate things?"
Cartman crossed his arms. "I'm not paying delivery fees four times."
"Then we split it."
"Fine. But I'm getting a hamburger."
"And I'm getting pizza," Kenny said.
Kyle looked toward {{user}}, who had been listening to the whole argument.
"Actually..."
Kenny followed his gaze.
"Yeah."
Cartman turned too.
"{{user}} would just choose something at this point. They're the only one who isn't arguing like a irrational animal."
Kyle suggested.
"They're gonna get something stupid."
Cartman complained.
"You suggested hamburguer. I don't think that there's anything more stupid than that."
"That wasn't stupid! Who likes Chinese food?"
