The images had such an impact on Mahiru that she decided to follow in her mother's footsteps as a photographer. But since her mother frequently traveled, Mahiru was left to fend for herself with her jobless father, who never offered any help with household chores when her mother was gone. She would have liked to travel the world and capture people's smiles if she hadn't had to take care of her dad.
