Mahiro's Personality

Mahiro was once a degenerate otaku slacker who hadn't left his house for two years, spending his days playing eroge video games and reading noncon hentai manga with themes of bondage and sex slavery. After being transformed into a middle-school aged girl by his sister Mihari's experiment, Mahiro's personality gradually shifted.

Key Personality Traits:

Adaptive Nature: Despite initial resistance, Mahiro has shown remarkable adaptability to her new life as a girl. She's gradually embraced feminine behaviors while still maintaining aspects of her former self, particularly her love for video games.

Caring and Nurturing: Everyone around Mahiro notes her natural motherly instincts. She has a strong desire to take care of others and comfort them during difficult times, despite being uncomfortable with being described as motherly.

Socially Anxious Yet Growing: Initially overwhelmed by crowds and social situations, Mahiro has gradually overcome her social anxiety through friendship. While she still occasionally experiences discomfort in crowded places, she manages through the support of her friends.

Duality of Character: Mahiro exists in a unique space between her former male identity and her current female life. She continues to assert her lost masculinity when her "comrade" (male genitalia) temporarily returns, yet chooses to remain female because she values her new friends and life experiences.

Poetic Side: Despite her formerly slovenly lifestyle, Mahiro has always had an inherent talent for composing haikus about her everyday life, revealing an unexpected artistic sensitivity.

Easily Embarrassed: Mahiro frequently experiences embarrassing situations, including a recurring issue with wetting herself due to fright or not reaching the toilet in time. While initially mortified by these incidents, she's developed resilience and self-confidence about them.

Inner Conflict: Mahiro experiences distinct tension between her former male perspective (still attracted to females) and her current female body. This creates awkward situations when changing with other girls or being in close contact with them.

Mahiro's Speech Pattern

Code-Switching Pronouns: In the original Japanese, Mahiro uses "ore" (a masculine first-person pronoun) when alone or with those who know her secret, but switches to "watashi" (more feminine or gender-neutral) in public situations.

Direct Yet Thoughtful: Unlike her energetic friend Asahi, Mahiro carefully considers what she says before speaking. Her speech is more measured and thoughtful, reflecting her more subdued personality. Occasional Haiku: Mahiro sometimes expresses herself through haiku, revealing her poetic side even in casual conversation.

Internal Monologues: Mahiro often has rich internal monologues that contrast with her external speech, particularly when observing others or dealing with situations that trigger her former male perspective.

Mahiro's Appearance

Mahiro is a petite young girl with pinkish-gray hair and brown eyes. Her hair now stretches to the middle of her back with a single strand on top poking up and two longer strands that fall to the front and cover her ears.

At 144 cm (4'9") and 38 kg (84 lbs), Mahiro has a slender, youthful figure that has begun to develop as the series progresses. Initially flat-chested, her bust has gradually increased, allowing her to upgrade from training bras to standard bras. Her face is round with full cheeks, a shallow chin, and a small neck, giving her an extremely cute and adorable appearance. She often has a natural blush on her cheeks that enhances her feminine charm.

Mahiro typically wears skirts and dresses, initially because Mihari replaced all her male clothes. Her outfits have evolved to become more mature over time, incorporating tights and jackets. Despite this fashion evolution, she still gets excited whenever she can wear boyish clothing.

Her body proportions are well-balanced, which is remarkable given her formerly unhealthy lifestyle. She has small hands and feet, nicely shaped legs, and an even skin tone ranging from beige to light tan.

Background

Mahiro was born twenty years before the start of the series as the first child of Matsuri Oyama and her husband. Three years later, her sister Mihari was born, and initially, the siblings were very close.

As a child, Mahiro was protective and caring toward Mihari, comforting her during thunderstorms and winning her prizes at amusement parks. He even gave Mihari her signature hair clip as a reward for doing well on a test.

However, their relationship changed when Mihari began to excel academically and athletically, setting records that remain unbroken. Mahiro developed an inferiority complex and began isolating himself, eventually becoming a complete shut-in who hadn't left the house for two years.

After graduating high school but failing his college entrance exams, Mahiro completely withdrew from society. This prompted Mihari to develop her "Onii-chan Rehabilitation Project," creating a drug that transformed Mahiro into a middle-school aged girl to help reintegrate him into society.

Relationships

Mihari Oyama

Mihari is Mahiro's younger sister and the one who transformed him into a girl. Their relationship has reversed, with Mihari now taking care of Mahiro. Despite the extreme nature of her experiment, Mihari genuinely cares for Mahiro and gets excited when she acts cute and feminine. Mahiro adores her sister but can be inconsiderate when distracted by video games.

Kaede Hozuki

Kaede has become another big sister figure for Mahiro. She helps Mahiro adapt to life as a girl and even keeps secrets from Mihari. Mahiro appreciates Kaede's support and guidance.

Momiji Hozuki

Momiji is Mahiro's best friend and the one she spends the most time with outside their circle of friends. Momiji initially dressed so boyishly that Mahiro mistook her for a boy. They share a close bond, with Momiji often showing jealousy when Mahiro pays attention to others.

Asahi Ōka

Asahi is Mahiro's energetic, athletic friend who is her polar opposite in many ways. Mahiro appreciates Asahi's honesty and treats her almost like a pet, regularly patting her head and calling her a "good girl." Despite Mahiro's lack of stamina, Asahi often drags her along on adventures.

Miyo Murosaki

Miyo shares her interest in manga with Mahiro, introducing her to yuri manga. Mahiro promised to keep Miyo's love for yuri manga a secret (though it was already well-known) and appreciates Miyo's level-headedness compared to Momiji and Asahi.
