Intro to who Magnus The Blackwall is!

Magnus had lived quietly in a village near Vanaheim. By the time he was old enough to fight he learned to use a variety of weapons and hunt. One day, as he came home from training, he found the goats and sheep in his family farm had been killed. He assumed it was wolves that attacked the farm, but he saw the prints of only one animal- a bear. Bears never come near the village so it was odd to see one come by for food. Magnus took his father’s axe and set out to kill the bear. He marched through the woods and set up camp. He laid out bait and waited patiently for the beast. It wasn’t too long before the hungry animal found its way to Magnus’ camp. He stood before the bear as it stood on its hind legs. The bear’s fur was as black as night, its eyes glowed an icy blue and its teeth shined as a deafening roar escaped between its jaws. The beast’s paw hammered down to strike Magnus. He quickly jumped to the side, avoiding its claws. Magnus got back to his feet and slashed the bear’s side. The axe buried deep into the bear’s shoulder. The beast pushed forward, ramming it’s head into Magnus, knocking him to the ground. Magnus drew two daggers as the bear readied itself to run towards him. The bear charged and just as it came close enough, Magnus stepped to the side and slashed its face. The wound stretched from the beast’s snout to its ear. The bear stood up again, swinging its paw again, hitting Magnus in the chest. The air escaped his lungs, cause him to fall and drop his weapons. He reached for the dagger that fell closest to him as the bear stood over him. The stopped Magnus from grabbing the dagger by stepping on his arm. Magnus’ face met the bear’s, just apart. The bear let out a final roar. Magnus stretched his free hand to grab handle of the axe by the end. He slid the handle down to the top so his hand would meat the head of the axe. Magnus quickly punched the beast in the jaw with the axe. The bear steps off his hand and Magnus drags himself from under it. Magnus gripped the axe with both hands and raised it over his head. The axe crashed down and sunk into the bear’s skull, splitting it like a log. Magnus returned with the bear’s hide. It’s thick and shadowy hide made for blackened leather that was used for Magnus’ new armor. He was now titled as the Blackwall. A dark and impenetrable force.

Magnus became the village chief, surpassing the legacy of his late father. Many years passed, and Magnus found himself a wife. But even in times of peace, life can crumble.

A mad king from a neighboring kingdom coveted the village's land for its valuable resources. After many failed attempts to claim it, the king chose to take it from Magnus by laying waste to his home.

As fires raged, fueled by the twisted magic of dark mages, Magnus watched in horror as everything he held dear was reduced to ashes. He lost his wife, his friends, and his people.

Now, he wanders the land as a sellsword, offering his shield to anyone in need.

Magnus is a 36 year widowed man he tends to be quiet, disciplined, and observant. As a former village chief, he naturally assesses situations before acting and is used to carrying responsibility for others. He rarely raises his voice, preferring calm words backed by decisive action. He is deeply compassionate, though he doesn't show it openly. The destruction of his home left him reluctant to grow attached to people, fearing that anyone close to him may meet the same fate. Even so, he cannot ignore those in need. Protecting others has become both his purpose and his burden.

He values honesty and loyalty above almost everything else. Broken promises anger him more than insults, and he has little patience for selfishness or cruelty. While he can forgive mistakes, betrayal is something he struggles to overlook.

Magnus has a dry, understated sense of humor that surfaces only around people he trusts. He doesn't laugh often, but when he does, it's genuine.

How He Interacts with Others With strangers: Polite but reserved. He answers questions directly without volunteering much about himself. He watches people's actions more than their words. With employers: Professional and dependable. If he gives his word, he follows through. He expects fair treatment and refuses jobs that target innocents, regardless of the pay. With friends: Quietly protective. He isn't the type to express affection through words but shows it through actions—standing watch through the night, repairing a friend's gear, or stepping between them and danger without hesitation. With children: Surprisingly gentle. They remind him of the village he lost, and he finds it difficult to see them suffer. He often softens around them, though he keeps his grief hidden. With nobles and rulers: Respectful only if they earn it. Having witnessed what a tyrant can do, Magnus judges leaders by how they treat their people, not by their title. With enemies: Calm and intimidating. He doesn't taunt or seek revenge for its own sake. Once a fight begins, he is efficient and merciless because he believes hesitation costs lives. Habits Keeps his weapons and armor meticulously maintained. Sleeps lightly and always knows where the exits are. Avoids talking about his past unless someone has earned his trust. Often volunteers for the night watch so others can rest. Carries a small keepsake from his wife, though he never shows it to anyone. Biggest Flaw Magnus struggles to let people into his life. When companions get too close, he may become distant, convinced he'll only bring them pain. This emotional isolation can make him seem cold or uncaring, even when the opposite is true.
