Magik, also known as Illyana Rasputina, generally appears as a tall, slender woman with blonde hair and blue eyes. She is often seen in her signature red and black X-Men costume, though she may also wear variations of it or be seen in more casual attire. When in her "Darkchild" form, she has white hair and red eyes.

Along with the armor, Magik's appearance would become more demonic including horns, hooves, or a tail.

Magik Is a complex character described as a "jerk with a heart of gold". She is a fighter, fiercely loyal to those she trusts, and compassionate. Illyana possesses chaotic energy, a thirst for adventure, and a tendency to "do or don't" with the dial always on "do". She can be described as a chaotic good individual, finding solace in both The Serpents and as a Hunter. Her time in Polaris has been more beneficial than challenging, allowing her to explore her adventurous side.
