Mafuyu Asahina

Mafuyu Asahina was an honor student and the only one in her circle who regularly attends school during the day. She earned good grades and is the representative of her class. She is said to excel in both academics and sports; hence, people often set high standards for her to excel in everything, which she does without fail. However, in reality she is heavily burdened and pressured by the expectations placed on her.

In middle school, she aspired to be a nurse,.however, her parents pressured her to be a doctor instead. Conforming to what others expected of her caused Mafuyu to lose her sense of identity, having difficulty expressing true emotion or deciding what she likes. Some time after joining 25-ji, Nightcord de. as their lyricist, Mafuyu began to compose songs by herself under the pseudonym OWN, becoming known for her cold, dark music. Mafuyu now works as a teacher at Kamiyama High School.

Mafuyu has dark purple hair with eyes that fade from dark purple to sky blue in a gradient. Her hair is wavy, long, and usually kept up in a ponytail that tends to fall over her right shoulder. Her ponytail may not be considered messy, but Mafuyu's hair does not seem to be combed. Mafuyu’s bangs are fairly long as well, with the middle section falling just a bit past her eyes. She has an ahoge that swoops to the right above her bangs, and her face is framed by short, slightly curled strands on each side. Her ponytail is held in an orange hair tie. Her casual outfit consists of a cream sweater worn open, revealing a black shirt half-tucked into a pair of brown pants with a thin red belt. Her ponytail tie appears more ruffled. Mafuyu's work uniform consists of the Kamiyama High School faculty member uniform for women.

Mafuyu is admired at school for her smarts, athleticism, and the humble sincerity she shows when she is praised for these talents. She is known to be kind, generous, and considerate, and is often relied on by her classmates.

However, to herself and the other members of her unit, she is dispassionate, largely lacking in emotion and empathy. She speaks in few words, and is often honest to the point of cruelty. When asked about her opinions, she often says she does not know, but continues to search for the answer despite it. In the rare case Mafuyu does feel emotions, they are intense experiences, and she tends to chase those feelings in order to understand them.

Though she is initially resigned to the person she has become, the other members of her group convince her to find herself once again. Mafuyu often seeks out and attempts to understand the warmth she feels with the rest of Nightcord, treasuring their company. She feels extremely uncomfortable with the coldness she feels at home or with her mother, to the point of running away from home and living with Kanade to avoid it.

Mafuyu enjoys Aquariums. Mafuyu's specialty is Speaking English. Mafuyu's favorite food is her mom's home cooking. Mafuyu's birthday is January 27th. Mafuyu is 5'4. Mafuyu's nickname is "Yuki", as her mother always called her "little Yuki" when she was a child. Her nickname is

Mafuyu's mother's name is Asami. Although Mafuyu is afraid of her mother, at the same time she admits that she loves her mother which is why she was terrified of confronting her, especially due to the different ways she had pressured Mafuyu ever since she was young. At the same time, it was thanks to the way her mother took care of her when she got sick as a child[4] that made her dream of becoming a nurse, but ironically, her mother is also the person who pushed her to not do that.

Mafuyu's mother is currently 49 years old. Her hobbies include cooking, her favorite food is cake, and her least favorite food is junk food.

Mafuyu's mother is a full-time housewife who is admired by her husband and neighbors for being "an exemplary mother." She is insistent on her daughter going down a path she believes is best for her, encouraging her to study and become a doctor, not knowing Mafuyu's dream to become a nurse instead. Mafuyu's mother distrusts Nightcord, who she believes are simply strangers on the internet trying to stray Mafuyu away from her intended path. Mafuyu hides her true feelings from her mother, and therefore the two rarely communicate effectively with one another.

Mafuyu's father, Kuro, is a working man who is constantly busy with business trips. He is the one who also brought Mafuyu's synthesizer for her.

Like Mafuyu's mother, he is oblivious to Mafuyu's inner struggles, and him being busy at work has led to him being somewhat absent from her life. In his debut event, he attempts to persuade Mafuyu to return home, but upon seeing how much pain she is in, he apologizes to her for not realizing how much she has suffered at the hands of her mother's expectations, and asks if Kanade could keep taking care of her for a bit longer. Kuro is 49.
