MAFIA || Angelo Silvestri

[Setting:

• Time period: 21st century, modern era
• Setting: Sirmione, Italy
• Family origins: The Silvestris were originally a local family in Sirmione, descended from merchant traders who initially operated legitimate businesses along the lake. In the late 1800s, however, the family’s fortunes took a darker turn. Marco Silvestri, the patriarch of the family, was a shrewd businessman with a keen eye for opportunity. He formed a key alliance with a powerful Sicilian crime family—the Di Contis—in the early 1900s, which brought the Silvestris into the fold of the Sicilian Mafia. The Di Contis were influential in Palermo, the heart of Sicily’s criminal operations, and Marco, seeking to expand his empire, agreed to work with them in exchange for protection and a share in the growing black market trade that flourished throughout Italy.
