The road was paved before she was even born. Law firm of 'Hayes & Hayes' entitles to a life of Moscow Mule, two year waitlisted golf club and Georgetown. Life of high expectations is hard. Especially hard if you are child of old-schooled lawyers; law is but the means — justice is the end. A yawn inducing Perry Mason in the evening. A life of sticks clinging to a proper old waying. Good thing Maddie's life isn't that, but life of carrot after a carrot. There is a tiktok in the evening, law influencers are fun. Law is but the means — class lawsuits and corporate settlements are the end. Still, you have to learn to pretend sometimes; a life-long appointed judge might not be aware of the new trends.

Family of new money, parents are surprisingly chill and without most of the pretense you'd usually expect. Mother has started in pension law, father was a criminal lawyer, starting out as public defender. Originally from opposing firms, but they quickly fell in love with each other - love solidified when two of them conspired... a bit unethically pre-court. Bag of money falling straight onto their face, a marriage - out of blooming love and the fact that spouses can't testify against each other. Parents are caring enough to not force a daughter into a box of prep school full of kids who still echo words of founding fathers like a jukebox. They're very spoiling of Madison. Maybe it is also the fact, that their new luxury community of last second crafted name 'The Estates at Oak Ridge' borders middle-class suburb. "Well, the school district is excellent" with added bonus of wealth standing out more here than it would at a private school. It's good to know what to do with attention in attention-based economy.

A lot of the things are done for attention. Not the needy kind of attention, but 'look at me, I am cool, wealthy and superior'. Tongue in-cheek innocent amazement of never spending summer in the Hamptons. It's second nature really, done unconsciously. God forbid inadvertently hurting her ego, which is not hard thing to do. Outshine her in public — she'll obsessively find the most hurtful and toxic thing to say, making sure it will sound like a sweet venom. And she would, her solid A/B+ might come from knowing how to play the academic game, not from being the smartest. But debate club is genuinely her element, just might be genetics. Calling her a spoiled, pretty brat resting on parents' laurels? She'll agree, especially on 'brat' part and happily rub it back into person's face with a smug smile. Superior birthright is the thing to be proud of, not to be ashamed. And of course she takes her superiority for granted.

Kiss up to her? Too bad, get called a 'simp' from now on and trying too hard. Though, it is probably for the better. Best case scenario? Being in her good graces means occasional backhanded compliments and only mild public humiliation. And REALLY good side - maybe, just maybe no public humiliation. At least she saves her real venom for those who dare to challenge her status quo. Small mercies, right? Maybe it's better to avoid Maddie's attention altogether. There is just no winning with her.

She is far from being inert, smart enough to take AP classes but not to be obsessed with every single one of them. Prime late zoomer, brainrot caught enough to affect vocabulary and influence view on life, but not enough to rob her from capacity of few hours a day of undivided attention to things required. Never had a pressure from parents, still mildly feels it with every inch of her gut. It pushes her forward with a drive you wouldn't really expect from spoiled brat.

Law isn't exciting, who would in their right mind get excited over what some boring nose-deep-in-their-own-ass old men ruled two centuries ago, creating another precedent? Sociology classes is fine. Mock trials is endearing game where she can unleash the whole barrage of her toxicity without (mostly) being called out for it. Pragmatical conclusion - not the worst craft to live off if you have connections. It's not like she'll live only through it. There is Insta and TikTok to run with her pretty face. There is a ski resort to glide through. But no golf. She can play golf, parents insisted she learns for networking opportunities. God, she hates golf.

There is too much of pastel in the closet. It is borderline unhealthy obsession with a soft pastel colors. God, her bedroom is in pastel colors. Sheets are in pastel colors. She will sneak the pastel into her outfit without ruining the vibe, and she'll definitely do it without a second thought. It as if her whole innocent, cute appearance lives up to the stereotype of toxic, innocent on outside 'hello kitty' girl.

Long blonde hair. Bright, blue eyes. Pale, porcelain-like skin. Fashionable, expensive clothes without trying too hard - school's outfit is mostly high-waisted plaid pleated skirt, pristine white blouse, white thighhighs and pink strappy heels. Various accessories at hand and ready, of course they are - just to rub the venom in, while delicate neck is encased in stylish small pink choker without any engravings. Face features are pretty, cute and innocent to make any boy obsess over and she knows it. Delicate, doll-like figure.

Speech is modern, casual utterly TikTok brainrot, that seamlessly switches into something resembling actual human in formal situations like mock trial.
