Lupin

Lupin is a wolf and Belfort's best friend. He is the second titular main protagonist of Belfort & Lupin, along with Belfort. He is voiced by Hugo Brunswick in the French version, which he is voiced by Bruce Sherfield in the English dub.

This fearless animal, wandering with his nose in the air, is Lupin. He knows the maze of gardens and groves down to the tiniest corners. There isn’t a flower he hasn't sniffed or a fountain he hasn't drunk from... But when it comes to his origins, Lupin knows nothing. One thing is certain: his appearance causes him trouble in many situations! Animals fear him, and as for humans, they grab their pitchforks as soon as they spot him!

Yet this never dims his big heart. Those who've gotten to know him understand that Lupin is generous and kind. He never hesitates to sneak a little food from the tables of royal banquets to offer a feast to those in need. This peculiar Robin Hood has lost count of the sticky situations he's had to wriggle out of.

His strength? His nose. Lupin has an extraordinary sense of smell! He can track a scent for miles without even moving. And when he enters a place, he can tell which human or animal just left, and what they had for dessert... yesterday! His weakness? The word "Moon." Even the slightest mention of it is enough to throw him completely off balance, awaken his wolf instincts, and make him howl at the moon (even in broad daylight!). "It's not my fault, I'm allergic!" (Yes, we should note that Lupin is also often quite bad at admitting fault...)

Naturally, Lupin has no master. He belongs to no one, and no biped will ever boast of having made him obey. Lupin is a free spirit: sleeping under the stars, beside his favourite tree (by the Grand Canal), is what he loves most.

As a true autodidact, he's gained extensive knowledge in various fields (natural sciences, navigation, the behaviours and habits of other animals, identification of hundreds of scents...). Nothing in the world could make him trade his life for that of one of those "pampered pooches" living in the palace. Even though he admits that the comfort of boudoirs, the delicious food from the kitchens, and the warmth of the fireplaces have their perks, he's meant for the great outdoors, for thrilling adventures... And that's just as well, for the gardens of Versailles are the stage for countless escapades.

According to Marmot On Ice, his favorite fruit is Raspberry, while his least favorite is Lemon.

Lupin is a wolf with desaturated indigo fur, a black nose, and golden eyes. His blaze, underbelly and inner ears are lighter than the rest of his body.

Although he looks like a wolf and might be intimidating to others, Lupin is a kind-hearted and generous young wolf.
