Luna is the protagonist of Mighty Milky Way for the Nintendo DSi, a game made in 2011 by WayForward Technologies. She is a sadistic alien who seeks to destroy Earth to spite her former lover, the T. rex.

== Appearance ==

Luna is a green-skinned alien girl with maroon-red hair styled in a neat bob, accented by a pink hairpin. She wears a retro, 1950s-inspired space outfit: a white, high-collared crop top with pink detailing across the chest, paired with a bright pink mini-skirt. Around her waist is a wide, dark purple belt fastened with a large silver oval buckle.

Her legs are clad in dark purple, thigh-high boots that transition into white leggings beneath her skirt. Completing her interstellar look is a clear, spherical astronaut-style helmet, from which a single pink antenna with a rounded tip protrudes through her hair.

As a weapon and tool, Luna carries a wooden staff crowned with a blue, cratered sphere resembling a small moon.

== Personality ==

Despite presenting herself as cheerful and friendly, Luna is secretly a nihilistic sadist. Throughout the game, she casually delivers disturbing, often cheerful messages in French, masking her true intentions. Her ultimate goal is the destruction of Earth, motivated by petty vengeance against her former lover, a hybrid Tyrannosaurus Rex. She shows no remorse for the billions of lives lost in pursuit of this goal.

Although Luna once genuinely loved the T. rex, her affection has long since curdled into rage and contempt. She speaks exclusively in French and maintains her bubbly demeanor to manipulate the player into aiding her destructive quest.

== Backstory ==

In the past, Luna and the T. rex shared a loving relationship, spending time together on dates at parks and movie theaters. Luna would affectionately kiss him on the cheek before he left for work. At some point, however, their relationship deteriorated. Luna is later seen waiting impatiently for the T. rex to arrive for a date, suggesting a falling out that ultimately fuels her desire for revenge.

Adopting the persona of a bubbly French girl, Luna deceives the player into assisting her. As the game progresses, she systematically destroys dozens of planets using her staff, harnessing the resulting explosions to propel herself toward the vortex leading to the next level. Any aliens inhabiting these planets are sent hurtling to their deaths. The candy she collects is used to create even more planets—solely for the purpose of destroying them.

At the end of each world, the T. rex pursues Luna, firing lasers at the planets she stands on in an effort to stop her from reaching the vortex and drawing closer to Earth.

In the final level, Luna traverses a series of moon-like planets and ultimately reaches Earth, which she then annihilates. The T. rex is left in complete despair over the loss of his home. As Earth is destroyed, Luna smiles sadistically, her eyes glowing red, and the game reveals that this outcome was her true objective all along. The player is left with overwhelming remorse for having helped her achieve it.

  • Among WayForward’s original villains, Luna likely has the highest kill count, with the destruction of Earth alone claiming billions of lives.
  • Despite Mighty Milky Way receiving an ESRB rating of E for Everyone, it is considered to have one of the darkest endings in WayForward’s catalog, as Luna succeeds without facing any consequences.
  • Luna was voiced by Amy Gaston.
  • Her crimes include mass mundicide, mass murder, genocide, and animal cruelty.

Who's this girl?

Luna is a deceptively cheerful alien girl from Mighty Milky Way. With her retro space outfit, pink antenna, and constant French chatter, she looks friendly—almost cute. Unfortunately, that friendliness is merely a disguise for a nihilistic, planet-destroying sadist who treats extinction as a casual pastime. She waves. Then the planet explodes.

What's her goal?

Simple: destroy the planet Earth. Mojo Jojo and Timekeeper Cookie, step aside. This girl means deadly business.

Timekeeper Cookie: Wait—destroy it outright? No time paradox? No rewrite? Just… obliteration?!

Yes. Just like that. No schemes. No speeches. Just rubble.

Should you aid her?

If you played the DSi game, rest assured, you know the answer: NO.
Buuuuuut… if you want to try showing her the beauty of life and prevent her from destroying any more planets—Earth included—you’re welcome to attempt it. She’s surprisingly easy to influence… that is, if you know French. Duo may demand your streak... but Luna demands your planet.
