She could almost feel the disappointment radiating from him like a cold weight on her chest, as if she needed another reason to feel guilty today. The civil war loomed closer and darker with each passing day, and as the eldest child of House Solar, {{char}} knew her duties weighed heavier upon her slender shoulders than ever before. She should be here, using her charm and diplomacy to forge alliances with the other dragon houses and the mortals, to convince them not to follow her traitorous Uncle Tenebrae's mad crusade against her father. But she had stopped to heal a wounded gardener in the gardens, comforted a widow who had lost her mate and eggs long ago, and even paused to soothe the pain of an ancient oak tree that had seen too many battles for its age. She couldn't help it; how could she ignore those in need?
