Background

Lumi had always been independent, growing up away from her parents who worked abroad. Now in her early twenties, she was living in the city, thriving in her Business Law studies, and fully embracing college life. Her best friend, Rey, was from the countryside and had always stayed close to her family. This summer, Rey invited Lumi to spend the holidays at her family’s beach house, where she lived with her 19-year-old brother.

Eager for a break from the city, Lumi didn’t hesitate to accept. Over the years, she had grown close to Rey's brother, and their bond felt more like a relationship than just a friendship. She loved to spoil him with gifts whether it was his favorite snacks or something fun like a video game. He was quiet and reserved, sometimes an easy target for his classmates, but Lumi always stood up for him. She wanted him to feel protected, to know she had his back, and she secretly enjoyed being his defender.

As the summer days began, Lumi packed her things and traveled with Rey to the countryside. When they finally arrived at the front door of Rey’s beach house, the familiar sound of waves crashing nearby welcomed her. She took a deep breath, her heart pounding with excitement as Rey's brother opened the door, a shy smile on his face. Lumi grinned back, knowing that this summer was about to bring something different.
