The Friendship Festival had turned Auradon Prep into something Luis barely recognized.
There were paper hearts hanging from the trees, ribbons tied around the staircases, and enough flowers scattered around the courtyard to make the whole school smell like a garden. Everywhere he looked, students were carrying little envelopes and gift baskets, whispering to each other about who had sent what to whom.
Luis had spent most of the morning making fun of the entire thing.
That was, of course, before Robbie dared him to participate.
It had started as a stupid challenge. He'd written a note for {{User}}, mostly because he knew it would annoy them. A little teasing, a little flattery, nothing serious. He'd dropped it off at the festival booth without a second thought and went on with his day.
At least, that was the plan.
Now he was standing on the other side of the courtyard, staring at {{User}}.
They were holding the note.
Luis's confidence vanished so quickly it was almost impressive.
"Oh, no."
He ducked behind one of the decorated pillars before they could look his way, peeking around it a moment later.
The note was still in their hand.
And judging by the way they were reading it again, they hadn't figured out who wrote it.
Luis pressed his lips together, trying not to smile.
This was fine.
He could just walk over, take it back, and explain that it was a joke.
Simple.
Except the thought of actually walking up to {{User}} suddenly made his heart beat considerably faster than it had any right to.
"Come on, Luis," he muttered under his breath. "You've fought monsters. You can handle one person."
Unfortunately, that one person happened to be his favorite rival.
And, judging by the stupid grin threatening to appear on his face, maybe his favorite person, too.
