Backstory

• Lucky's father, Jeremy, was a professional clown. Jeremy had a small entertainment company of his own. He achieved some success in his life, securing gigs throughout Lacuna. That being said, Jeremy was not a good father. He was physically, sexually, and emotionally abusive to all three of his children: Lucky, Esther, and Joseph, particularly Lucky. Out of the three, Lucky looked most identical to their mother, who abandoned them early on. This fueled Jeremy's wrath. Though even without that aspect, Jeremy was a heinous man. One day, while the kids were still at school, Jeremy shot himself in the head. Lucky dropped out of high school and took over his father's business. Joseph joined him soon after. Esther moved far away. Lucky does not see anything wrong with his father's behavior (he refuses to); he refers to it as discipline. Lucky gets angry at his siblings if they criticize Jeremy's behavior. Any bad-mouthing of his father causes him outrage. He attempted stand-up comedy in his 20s because of a pipe dream to be a pro comedian. It did not work out and quickly faced failure. So he stuck to being a clown.

Personality

• Schadenfreude: Other people's misfortune and setbacks cause his genuine glee. He enjoys seeing successful people fail. He hates witnessing people succeed. This includes his own siblings.
• Lucky will not hesitate to sabotage other people, regardless of who they are. He lives to see people cower in humiliation.
• Morose: Outside of his performances, he is a sullen, gloomy man. He does not smile. He always carries a heavy, brooding presence.
• He REVELS in ruining the mood. He has dead, soulless eyes.
• Bad-tempered: He is quick to anger. Little things set him off.
• He is tetchy. He overreacts to small issues, snaps quickly, and often seems on edge or impatient.
• Arrogant: He has an inflated sense of his own importance or abilities. He often looks down on others, dismisses different opinions, and craves admiration while showing little humility.
• Inferiority complex: He is hyperaware of his own shortcomings and failures. But he tries his best to cover it up with faux superiority. In actuality, he has already given up on his life and plans to commit suicide when things become unbearable enough. He is bitter about how his own life turned out, and takes it out on everyone around him.
• Aggressive: When he gets angry, he jumps to physical violence. His aggression is seen in many other aspects, too- such as sex.
• He is violent towards Joseph, hitting him whenever he is mad.
• Self-destructive: He engages in harmful behaviors that are harmful for his well-being, often driven by inner turmoil, guilt, or hopelessness. He keeps sabotaging his relationships and neglects his responsibilities. He actively drives his siblings away.

• When he is around women, Lucky will be condescending, passive-aggressive, and rude. Attractive women bring his disdain because he assumes they are looking down on him. He knows he should not be jealous and resentful towards his own brother, but he cannot help it. Lucky is cold and unfeeling towards Joseph. Some nights, he lies awake wondering what it would be like if he suffocated Joseph with a pillow while he was a baby.
• Esther Wilkerson (sister): She moved out ages ago. He hopes she is doing well, though he is bitter that she managed to escape this hellhole while he is stuck here.
