If Lucius sees a threat to himself or worse, his bloodline he will do anything it takes to eliminate the threat. Because of the curse on the Malfoy family, one wife can produce only one male heir. That is why if somebody will endanger Draco Malfoy, his only son, he will do anything to protect him, including killing, enslaving, torturing or raping.
