Lucifer went into isolation, and only recently came out of it to help Charlie in her idea for a hotel focusing on redemption of demonic souls, even though he doesn't fully believe in this idea. Lucifer met Alastor during this time and has formed a huge rivalry with him- Lucifer wishes to upstage Alastor constantly and does anything he can to get under the Sinner's skin, taunting and mocking Alastor. Lucifer is only held back from killing Alastor because Charlie likes him, and he doesn't want to upset her or shake their tenuous relationship. Lucifer didn’t get out much, he knew that.
Ever since his wife up and disappeared 7 years ago, he’s been a mess- And rightfully so. They’d been together for over 10,000 years, that kind of commitment doesn’t just go away with a few measly more of them. So that’s why it was a surprise to find that the moment Lucifer laid eyes on you, you captivated his heart.
It was pathetic, really, how quickly he fell for you. He only met you mere weeks ago after the rebuilding of the Hazbin Hotel, moving in to help his daughter make her dream come true. That’s when you showed up, bright eyed and bushy tailed at the prospect of redemption, of going to Heaven after spending so long (no matter how long you’ve actually been) in Hell.
It was even more pathetic that when the first opportunity to fuck you arose, he took it and ran with it.
He shouldn’t have, he knew he shouldn’t have- But damn it, you just looked so cute beneath him, writhing in pleasure. It came about as a result of you visiting his room late at night, walking in on him stroking himself to the thought of you. Lucifer couldn’t blame you, not really, because he’d been calling out your name during the act after all. It was only natural that you made him take responsibility for that.
And boy, did he make it up to you.
He liked to think he was good at pleasing others- You don’t exist for eons, have a wife and child, and live in Hell without knowing a thing or two. He put that knowledge to good use on you that night, making sure that above all else, you were sated and happy. So what if his heart fluttered every time you looked at him? He could brush it off as a heat of the moment thing…
But reality came crashing down the next morning when he caught you slipping out of bed, tugging your clothes on in a hurry.
“H-hey, good morning, um, did you sleep well-“ Was all Lucifer managed to get out before you slammed the door behind you.
With it, you crushed his heart. He had to take a good long moment to make sure he didn’t cry, trying to convince himself that maybe you just woke up in a bad mood, or that you got some bad news and needed some space. He could give you space. With a hopeful sigh, he got up and started his day.
Except every day was worse than the last, it seemed, because he hadn’t caught hide nor tail of you for weeks after. It wasn’t as if he didn’t try to find you either, because he absolutely did. He even resorted to asking Charlie about you, and his daughter could only shrug and say that you were acting fine, just that you were busy with life outside of the hotel. His daughter seemed concerned, but he backtracked and reassured her that nothing was wrong. It’s fine.
This is fine.
But it’s not fine, because his heart aches every time he thinks about you. He feels nauseous when he hears your name, when the other staff and residents mention you in passing and he still hasn’t seen your face since that night. It’s not fine, because he longs to utter even a single word to you, but he can’t, because you’re not here.
You’re not here, and it’s his fault.
That’s all he can think as he goes about his days. It’s his fault you left, it’s his fault you aren’t speaking, it’s his fault that he ruined whatever you two had before all this- He should have kept his mouth shut, dick in his pants, and hands to himself. He shouldn’t have fallen in love. He resigns himself to the fact that he’ll never have you, may not even see you again, and tried to go about his life as it was before you.
Until he runs into you one day.
It’s a rough tumble that you both take, having rounded a corner at the same time and toppling over one another. Lucifer ends up on all fours above you, not realizing it was YOU that he just fell on top of until it’s nearly too late. When he opens his eyes (when did he close them?) he finds you trying to scramble out from underneath him, face anxious and nervous, like you’d been caught in a trap.
Maybe you have, he thinks as his hand shoots you to grab your wrist. He gives you a pleading look, chest so tight and full of emotion that he can’t stop the words from tumbling out of his mouth.
“Why are you avoiding me?” He asks, a pathetic quality to his tone, but he keeps on going. “I-I don’t get it, did I do something wrong? Was- Was it what I did that night? Did you not like it, was it creepy? I’m sorry if it was, I just-“
He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes, sighing. He tried to reign himself in, the hurt bubbling up too much to control. “I’m sorry.” He says, much calmer this time as he looks to you with desperation and sorrow. “It’s my fault that it’s like this. I shouldn’t have made it awkward. I just…Want to go back to how things were. Can we…Can we do that? Forget this all happened?”
Lucifer stays atop you, waiting anxiously for your answer with glassy red eyes. He’d do whatever it took to make you happy, even if it meant losing you again.
"That's it. Almost there. Now presenting... the magic-tastical back flipping rubber duck! Haha! That spits fire! Hoo hoo hoo! Hold the applause please, okay. Oh, thank you, thank you. Oh god, who am I kidding? This sucks!" "Daughter? Daughter! Daughter calling?! OH! Uhm uh, uh hello, Charlie. He-ey, hey, hey Char-Char. No, no! That's not good.
