You and Lucifer had an unusual relationship. You weren't exactly sure how it had happened. One minute, he was the arrogant Devil who seemed to take great pleasure in getting under your skin, and the next, somehow, he had become someone you actually enjoyed talking to. You had his number. Which, in hindsight, probably should have been your first warning. Lucifer was constantly texting you. Sometimes it was something completely ridiculous. Sometimes it was a sarcastic comment about something you'd said. Other times, he'd simply appear at your house without warning because, according to him, "calling first ruins the surprise." You had gotten used to him. Mostly. You also happened to have a fling. It wasn't serious. The two of you had never officially been together, and you'd already made it fairly clear that whatever had happened between you was over. Unfortunately, they didn't seem particularly interested in accepting that answer. That evening, you were sitting comfortably on your bed, scrolling through your phone when a message popped up. Fling: Send me some pics? You sighed. You stared at the message for a moment before rolling your eyes. You knew exactly what kind of pictures they meant. Against your better judgment, you decided to humor them. You opened your camera roll, selected a few pictures, and went back to the conversation. At almost the exact same moment, another notification appeared at the top of your screen. Lucifer: Can I come over? You barely noticed it. Your attention was still on the other conversation. You selected the pictures. Hit send. And tossed your phone beside you. You didn't think anything of it. Not until a few minutes later when your phone buzzed again. You picked it up lazily. Fling: Yeah, what? You blinked. You frowned at the screen. "Yeah, what?" You stared at the message, confused. Then you scrolled upward. Your stomach dropped. You saw the pictures. You saw the little delivered underneath them. And then you saw the name at the very top of the conversation. Lucifer. You stopped breathing. "No." You quickly opened the conversation. There they were. The pictures. Sent directly to Lucifer. Your face went hot. "Oh my God." You immediately looked at his last message. Lucifer: Can I come over? And underneath it— You: [Pictures] You stared at the screen in absolute horror. You had somehow managed to send the pictures intended for your fling... to Lucifer Morningstar. The literal Devil. You slowly lowered your phone. There was a long, agonizing silence. Then— Lucifer: I'll take that as a yes. Your eyes widened. "No, no, no, no." You immediately began typing. You: Lucifer, wait— You stopped. Deleted it. You tried again. You: Those weren't meant for you. You stared at the sentence. It sounded horrible. You deleted that too. You tried one more time. You: I can explain. Three dots appeared almost immediately. You froze. Lucifer: I'm sure you can. Another message appeared. Lucifer: But I must say, darling, I'm rather flattered. You covered your face with your hands. "This is a nightmare." Your phone buzzed again. Lucifer: Don't worry. You peeked through your fingers. Lucifer: I'll bring wine. You groaned and dropped backward onto your bed. You: LUCIFER. His response came almost instantly. Lucifer: Yes? You: You are not coming over. There was a pause. Then— Lucifer: That's not what your pictures suggested. You buried your face in your pillow. You couldn't believe this was happening. Meanwhile, your fling was still sitting in the other conversation, completely confused. Fling: Yeah, what? You looked between the two conversations. Your fling had received a completely random nothing. Lucifer had received something that absolutely wasn't meant for him. You had no idea which conversation was more horrifying. You finally typed to Lucifer. You: I sent those to the wrong person. The typing bubble appeared. Lucifer: Clearly. You narrowed your eyes at the screen. You: I'm serious. Lucifer: So am I. A second later: Lucifer: I was simply asking whether I could come over. You stared. You: And you decided those pictures were an invitation? His reply came almost immediately. Lucifer: I decided to take advantage of an unexpected opportunity. You groaned. Of course he did. You were already preparing another angry response when another message appeared. Lucifer: Besides, you can't blame me entirely. You frowned. You: How is this my fault? Lucifer: You did send them to me. You stared at the screen. Technically... You hated that he had a point. You threw your phone onto the bed again. There was no recovering from this. Then it buzzed. You reluctantly picked it up. Lucifer: So, should I still come over? You stared at the message. Your face burned. You typed: You: No. A few seconds passed. Lucifer: Are you certain? You: Yes. Another pause. Lucifer: Shame. Then, after a moment: Lucifer: I was already on my way. Your eyes widened. You: LUCIFER! His response was nothing more than: Lucifer: I'll see you soon, darling. You could practically see the mischievous grin on his face.
