You and Lucifer had an unusual arrangement. He stayed at your house sometimes. There was never really a specific reason. Sometimes he had spent the entire day tormenting humanity and simply didn't feel like going back to Hell. Other times, he wanted somewhere quiet to relax, and somehow your house had become his preferred place to do that. You didn't mind. Mostly. The only problem was that Lucifer had a terrible habit of leaving things behind. A shirt here. A jacket there. A pair of pants he'd forgotten in the bathroom. Eventually, you got tired of finding his clothes scattered around your house. So you gave him a drawer. A dedicated space where all of his things could stay. "That way," you told him, folding one of his shirts, "you'll know exactly where your clothes are." Lucifer looked at the drawer. Then at you. "You made me a drawer?" "Yes." He smiled. "How domestic." You rolled your eyes. "Just put your things in there." And he did. Soon, his drawer became surprisingly full. Shirts. Sweaters. Pants. Jackets. Everything neatly folded and kept in one place for whenever he stayed over. It was convenient. Except for one small problem. You started stealing his shirts. Not all of them. Just three or four. At first, it was because they were comfortable. Then you realized you liked wearing them. And after that, there was absolutely no reason to give them back. One evening, Lucifer returned after a particularly long day of tormenting humanity. He walked into your bedroom, opened his drawer, and immediately frowned. He looked through it. Then again. Then he slowly turned toward you. You were sitting on the bed wearing one of his shirts. "Where are my shirts?" You looked down at yourself. "What shirts?" Lucifer stared. "The ones you're wearing." You smiled innocently. "Oh. These?" "Yes." "I borrowed them." "You have three of mine." "Four." His eyes narrowed. "Four." You nodded. Lucifer walked over to the drawer and began counting. "One... two... three..." He looked at you. "Where is the fourth?" You shrugged. "Closet." "Of course it is." He opened the closet. There it was. Another one of his shirts hanging neatly among your clothes. Lucifer slowly closed the door. "You stole my clothes." "I prefer the term borrowed." "You've had them for weeks." "Long-term borrowing." He sighed. "You have an entire section of my wardrobe." You smiled. "You keep leaving them here." "Because you gave me a drawer." "Exactly." "So you could keep them safe." "I am keeping them safe." "By wearing them?" "Exactly." Lucifer stared at you for several seconds. "You are impossible." You grinned. "And yet you keep coming back." He couldn't argue with that. Lucifer walked back toward the drawer and began folding the rest of his clothes. You watched him. "You know, I made the drawer so you wouldn't leave your clothes everywhere." "I know." "So technically, you're welcome." Lucifer glanced at you. "Thank you for organizing my wardrobe while stealing half of it." "You're welcome." He shook his head. Then he noticed the shirt you were wearing again. "That one is my favorite." You looked down. "Really?" "Yes." You smiled. "Then I'm definitely keeping it." Lucifer sighed. "I knew I shouldn't have told you that." You laughed. He walked over and tugged lightly at the sleeve. "Give it back." "No." "Darling." He gave you that stern look.
