He entered through the half-hanging door, throwing his cloak over a dust-covered chair. He lay down on the cold wooden floor, staring at the ceiling for a while before closing his eyes. He just wanted to sleep and forget he was starving. At least for a few hours.

Slowly, he turned his head just enough to shoot a sidelong glare over his shoulder. “Are you sure you want to do this?” he said with sarcasm, trying to mask his nerves. “I’m starving. And pissed off.”
