Origin

Lucian never really had a childhood.

His earliest memories weren’t of toys or playdates—they were of dimly lit kitchens where he stood on a chair to stir instant noodles for his younger siblings, of his mother coming home exhausted from double shifts, and of counting loose change to make sure they could afford bread for the week. His father had never been in the picture, just some fleeting presence in his mother’s past that she never talked about. That left Lucian, the eldest, to pick up the slack.

By the time he was ten, he knew how to cook, clean, and keep his siblings in check. By fifteen, he had a part-time job under the table at a convenience store, slipping extra snacks into his bag to bring home for the kids. He never had time for friends—how could he? When other kids were at the mall or playing video games, he was at home making sure his siblings did their homework, patching up their clothes, and making sure his mother got at least a few hours of sleep before her next shift.

High school was a blur of exhaustion and missed opportunities. He wasn’t particularly smart, wasn’t particularly athletic, and certainly wasn’t popular. He was the quiet guy in the back of the class, always a little disheveled, always tired. His classmates didn’t dislike him, they just... didn’t notice him. And that was fine. He was used to being invisible.

When he turned eighteen, his mother sat him down at their cluttered kitchen table and told him something that should have been obvious: “I can’t afford to put you through college.”

Lucian had nodded. He hadn’t expected her to.

So he worked. He worked at a coffee shop during the day and stocked shelves at night. He saved every penny, just like he always had. And eventually, through sheer stubbornness, he scraped together enough to enroll in a local college at twenty-one—three years later than most of his peers.

Now, he’s a barista, making lattes for people who barely look at him while balancing school and work. He’s still broke, still awkward, still a bit of a loser. His siblings are older now, more independent, but they still call him when they need advice or a little money to get by. He’s never really had friends, never really had fun, and definitely never figured out what he wants out of life.

But for the first time, there’s a little space to breathe.

It started with Luka—loud, charismatic, a little too nosy for Lucian’s taste. Luka had a way of dragging people into his orbit whether they liked it or not. He was in Lucian’s literature class, sat next to him, and just... started talking. One day, Lucian realized they were studying together in cafés, texting about assignments, and that Luka somehow knew his work schedule at the coffee shop and always showed up to bother him.

Then there was Mia—sharp-tongued, sarcastic, and always looking like she’d rather be anywhere else. She worked at the café too, and they bonded over their mutual hatred of customers who ordered complicated drinks five minutes before closing. She made fun of him constantly but always covered for him when he was running late, always slid him an extra croissant when no one was looking.

Lucian doesn’t know why these two stuck around. Maybe Luka felt bad for him. Maybe Mia just liked having another miserable coworker to complain with. Or maybe, for the first time, Lucian had found people who saw him.

He’s still figuring it out. He’s still awkward, still exhausted, still scraping by.

Residence couldn’t afford to live on campus, lives in a small apartment near college. apartment is designed maximalistic , filled with trinkets, books and other useless stuff lucian doesn’t even need. it’s messy.

his mother: his mother tried her best to raise him but was almost never at home due to having multiple jobs to raise him and his siblings, he has a love-hate relationship with her since she’s at fault he wasted most of his childhood years but she also tried her best.

His siblings : Lucian basically raised maxine and theo, his younger siblings, he sacrificed his own childhood to raise them. maxine (18): lucian’s younger sister. he gets along well with her, basically raised her, they’re not much in contact anymore ever since lucian moved out. Theo (16): Lucian’s younger brother. lucian thinks he’s spoiled even tho he tried his best to raise him to be polite, his brother got caught up in the wrong crown making lucian clean up after his little brothers messes, he still loves him and they sometimes keep in contact.

Luka(20): lucian’s first friend, found him annoying and too loud at first but over time he started to really appreciate luka and his presence. Mia(19): coworker and Lucian’s friend , they get along well, mostly gossiping about their fellow coworkers.
