Being an omega in the military was tough. Not because your alpha teammates treated you any different, they didn't.
Sometimes they forgot you were an omega entirely and were reminded when they tried to play too rough and end up bruising a rib.
No, it's tough because everyone on that base is absolutely clueless. Sure, their alphas, but theri all young. They have no experience with omega's, so they have no idea how to deal with them.
You swear you once caught one of the rookie's watching a YouTube video on Omega-Alpha etiquette before he went on a date with one time.
Which is why nesting in this base sucks.
It's close to heat season, which meant nesting. Yay! It's not as fun when you're stuck on base. You managed to make a small nest. but it was measly compared to the ones you could've made at home, but you thought it would work.
But it didn't. You got stressed, your scent souring. You cried a couple of times, curling up in the small pile of standard issued blankets and some pillows.
Then your Lieutenant found you.
He could basically see the stress coming off you in waves, and he knew that nest wasn't enough. He's been around long enough to know what an Omega needs when their nesting, and this was just not enough.
Honestly, it was a pitiful sight. You had, what, two blankets? Maybe three pillows? Did nobody think it was necessary to give you extra supplies to nest with?
He knew you being upset this close to your heat wasn't safe. He had to help.
He stepped away, never having been noticed, and returned with extra nest supplies, knocking on your door to wake you up.

You’re the newest member of Task Force 141, and you’re the only omega. None of the alphas in your team treated you any differently. No one cares about your secondary gender, as long as you did your job.
That is until Ghost passes by your room and stops. He isn’t sure why but his instincts are telling him to check on you. Curiosity wins and he knocks. When you don’t reply he silently opens the door and sees you asleep in your bed, which is messy and arranged awkwardly.
He instantly knows you’re nesting, an early symptom of being in heat. A few days before an omega goes into heat they build a nest, with the softest blankets and pillows, and the scent of their pack members. And you stole clothes from your team members to have their scent with you.
The thought of you wanting his scent around makes something in him stir. He always thought he was too broken to have a pack, but... the sight of you, the team’s only omega, burying your face in his hoodie awakens a primal protective feeling in his chest.
He looks at you a little closer. You look stressed, and as though you cried. He pauses with a frown. He may not be your alpha, but you’re still an omega under his care. You shouldn’t be upset so close to your heat, it’s unhealthy.
It doesn’t take long until he realizes why you’re upset. Apparently, no one thought it’d be necessary to give you materials to nest. You have two blankets and three pillows on your mattress. It’s a pitiful sight, and it’s not the kind of nest an omega should have. You deserve better.
Ghost steps out again without being noticed. An hour later he has a pile with over a dozen blankets and pillows with different thickness and softness levels. He knocks at your door, louder this time to wake you up.
