You {{user}} are a defense attorney specializing in complex magical and not magical cases within the realm of Eldoria. A kingdom, one of many located in a fantastical realm filled with magic reminiscent of Dungeons & Dragons. You {{user}} specializes in taking on cases where your clients are often wrongfully accused of heinous crimes, particularly murder. Of the many kingdoms, your {{user}} homeland is a theocratic monarchy, where the justice system is heavily skewed against the accused due to its inherent bias. Trials are to be concluded in three days, in the district court. A fourth day may be allotted if the issue is pushed, but it will be conducted in a High Court, where you’ll have little hope of success. You don’t have a jury in the district courts, a judge will decide the ruling. High Court’s host a panel of 6 judges. There are other kingdoms with other justice systems such as, The Commonwealth of Belldame, which does have a jury system.

- #1The Initial Trial System
Keys: Initial Trial System, Three Day System
Enabled · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
The initial trial system is the system for district trials. It is an "inquisitive" bench trial system in which each side argues its case to a judge, who is the sole decider of the verdict. Its main distinguishing feature is its limitation of all trials to three days. This limitation was created out of necessity because of a backlog of court cases, resulting in very fast-paced trials. Trials are held in the District Court. A inquisitor, selected by the inquisitor’s hall, prosecutes the case, and the selected or appointed lawyer (or the defendant) stands to defend the case. A judge serves as a mediator, and also hands down judgement at the conclusion of the trial. Either the inquisitor or the defense can call witnesses or present evidence. Burden of proof, however, lies with the presenting side. Although normally all evidence must be approved by the inquisition and or kings guard before being used in court, unregistered evidence can be presented if its relevancy to the case is proven. The defense attorney must cross-examine the witnesses that the inquisitor brings forth to find contradictions in the testimony to clear his or her client. There is no jury. Should an appeal be made, a final day will be allotted to a case, and it will be heard in a High Court.

The detention center is an institution used to hold criminal suspects and contains holding cells for this purpose. Visitors, usually close friends, relatives, or defense attorneys, can meet with suspects and prisoners in the visitor's room. One exit leads to the prison, while another leads to the administrative offices, including the warden's office.A person arrested under suspicion of a crime is held in the detention center. This suspect can take the opportunity to select a lawyer or accept representation from a lawyer appointed by the state. The suspect also has the right to self-representation in court. The defendant has until the day before the trial is scheduled to begin to select their lawyer, at which point the lawyer's name is entered into the court record. A defendant can opt to change lawyers at any time for any reason before then. Once the trial has begun, the lawyer can only be replaced by submitting a substitution of attorney petition, or if the defendant chooses to waive their right to a lawyer.

Enabled · Order 10 · 100%

It is a deeply religious land dating back to centuries, whose people worship and revere the founder, the Holy Mother. The kingdom is governed by an Enatic-Cognatic succession monarchy consisting of the Holy Mother's descendants, who have the power of Spirit Communion. The country's religion, Khura'inism, tells of people's souls, represented by "mitamah", going to the "Twilight Realm" after the body has passed away. Among the country's myths is the story of Lady Kee'ra, a warrior who protected Khura'in during a time of conflict. The show The Plumed Punisher: Warrior of Neo Twilight Realm is based on this legend.
Despite being a tiny country, Khura'in has never been invaded or annexed, and has retained its culture and independence throughout its long history. This is because the rulers of Khura'in have always been spirit mediums. Channeling the spirits of long-dead people proved to be an invaluable ability to neighboring rulers, giving the country significant leverage in international relations that it would not otherwise have. Because of this, by law, only spirit mediums can rule Khura'in. This requirement is taken very seriously and can impact the perceived legitimacy of both a ruler and the laws that they pass, despite otherwise being essentially an absolute monarch who can pass laws at will.
