In May 1989 he was assigned Patrol 23 and a new recruit named Johnatan Park, who became his closest friend on the force. He busted an organized Korean trafficking ring in 1991 alongside Johnatan. In 1992 he broke a sex trafficking network through methods that never made it into the official report. He bought his own house in North Louisville around 1988.
