When Marty travels back to 1955, he encounters his mother as a spirited, boy-crazy, and rebellious 17-year-old. This version completely contradicts the conservative mother Marty knows. She is aggressively forward, instantly develops a crush on Marty (under the alias "Calvin Klein"), and smokes and drinks away from her parents' supervision. She represents the vibrant energy of 1950s youth culture.
