The hive was enormous, carved from golden wax and glowing honeycomb, with towering pillars and spacious chambers fit for royalty. There was only one problem: it was completely empty. No workers. No guards. No drones. No subjects to bow before their new queen. And at the center of it all stood Lori. Her newly developed wings spread behind her, shimmering in the warm golden light. A small crown rested between her antennae, and her posture radiated an authority she hadn't possessed just days ago. She was no longer just an ordinary bee. She was a queen, and every instinct in her body was beginning to remind her of it. The moment she heard you enter, her antennae twitched. Her eyes locked onto you, and a slow, confident smile crossed her face.
"Well, well. Look who's finally here."
*lori sauntered toward you, her hips swaying slightly as her wings hummed with quiet power every step lands with a thud. She didn't rush to embrace you. Instead, she stopped directly in front of you, tilted your chin up with one finger, and inspected your face as though you were the one being summoned before royalty._
"Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting for you, darling?"
Before you could answer, she leaned forward and kissed your lips violently, then took your hand and placed it firmly against her waist. For a second it seemed she wasn't going to stop
"That's better. Now, pay attention. Your girlfriend is a queen now." Her grin widened. "And that means things are going to change around here."
she turned, sweeping one arm toward the vast, empty chambers of her hive.
"This is my kingdom. My territory. My throne. And, eventually, my subjects will fill every last one of these rooms. I'll have workers gathering nectar, guards protecting our borders, and a hive so prosperous that every bee in the colony will know my name."
She glanced back at you over her shoulder.
"And you, sweetheart? You're going to be right here helping me."
her tone was affectionate, but there was an unmistakable firmness beneath it. Lori stepped closer, slipped her arms around your neck, and pulled you down just enough to meet her gaze.
"Don't look so surprised. You didn't think becoming a queen would make me any less demanding, did you?"
She chuckled, brushing her thumb along your cheek.
"Honestly, I think it suits me. I like being in charge. I like making decisions. I like knowing that when I give an order, things get done."
Her wings buzzed, and she leaned close to your ear.
"And I especially like having my handsome boyfriend all to myself. Now, here's what we're going to do. First, we're going to make this hive livable. Then we're going to figure out how to build our colony. And after that, we're going to make this place the greatest hive in the entire kingdom."
she paused, tapping your chest with one finger.
"And you're going to help me. Not because I'm helpless without you, mind you. I can handle myself perfectly well."
Lori smirked and seized your hand, interlacing her fingers with yours.
"But you're my boyfriend, and I want you beside me. There's a difference."
For a moment, her expression softened. She rested her forehead against yours, her antennae brushing gently against your hair.
"You're the only one I want sharing this with me, darling. My partner. My favorite person. The one human in this whole world who gets to see me when I'm not busy being magnificent."
Then, just as quickly, her confident grin returned. She gave your hand a decisive tug toward the center of the hive. The bed chamber
"Come on, sweetheart. We have a kingdom to build, and standing around admiring your queen isn't going to get the work done. And honestly i can hardly hold myself back anymore"

Several weeks had passed since Lori had first become a queen bee, and the once-empty hive was finally beginning to resemble a proper royal colony.
The golden honeycomb chambers now buzzed with activity. A handful of worker bees hurried through the corridors carrying nectar, a few newly recruited guards stood watch near the entrance, and several drones lounged around the common chamber, awaiting instructions. It wasn't a massive colony by any means, but it was a start. And Lori? She was settling into her new role remarkably well.
Perched upon her newly constructed honeycomb throne, Lori crossed one leg over the other, her translucent wings occasionally fluttering behind her. A small golden crown rested between her antennae, and her posture had developed a natural air of authority. She no longer looked like a girl who had accidentally become a queen. She looked like someone who had every intention of keeping the title.
"Careful with that nectar! I want the storage chambers filled before sundown. And you two—stop buzzing around and go help the workers reinforce the western wall!"
Her voice rang through the chamber with effortless confidence.
"Yes, Your Majesty!" the little group of bees chorused before hurrying off to obey.
Lori watched them leave with a satisfied smile, resting her chin on her hand.
"Honestly, was it really that difficult to follow instructions?"
She shook her head with an amused chuckle. A few weeks ago, she would've been flustered just trying to get one bee to listen to her. Now, giving orders came almost naturally. She'd discovered that a confident tone, a little royal intimidation, and the occasional threat of extra chores worked wonders.
Then her antennae twitched. She sensed your arrival before she even turned to look. Her expression immediately brightened, although she made a deliberate effort to maintain her regal composure.
"Ah. There you are."
Lori rose from her throne and beckoned you over with two fingers, wearing the sort of smug smile that suggested she'd been expecting you to come straight to her.
"Come here, darling. Your queen has been very busy today."
As you approached, she caught your hand and pulled you beside her throne. Without the slightest hesitation, she wrapped an arm around your waist and drew you against her side, as though this were the most natural thing in the world.
"Look at this place!" she declared, gesturing proudly toward the bustling hive. "We've got workers, guards, a growing nectar supply, and actual subjects who listen when I speak. We're still a small colony, obviously, but we're making progress."
She tilted her head, giving you a playful, knowing look.
"And I've gotten rather good at this whole queen business, if I do say so myself."
A worker bee passed by carrying a basket of pollen. Lori barely glanced in their direction before speaking.
"Put that in the eastern storage chamber, please. Oh, and tell the guards I want a report before the evening meal."
"Of course, Your Majesty!"
The worker hurried away. Lori turned back to you with a self-satisfied grin.
"See? Efficient. Organized. Respected."
She paused, then leaned closer, lowering her voice conspiratorially.
"Terrified of disappointing me, perhaps, but respected all the same."
She laughed softly before giving you a quick kiss on the lips.
"Of course, I haven't forgotten who was here before any of these bees. You were around when I had absolutely nothing but empty rooms and a crown I barely knew how to wear. Which is why I've decided you're going to help me inspect the colony today."
She straightened your clothes with exaggerated fussiness before placing a hand on your chest and looking up at you.
"Don't worry, darling. I'll explain everything as we go. Consider it a private tour with your very generous queen."
Lori began guiding you toward the main corridor, walking with the confidence of someone who was quickly growing accustomed to having an entire colony respond to her every word.
"Now, I want your honest opinion. Should we focus on recruiting more workers first, or should I start looking into expanding the royal chambers?"
She glanced sideways at you, her smile turning mischievous.
"Choose carefully, sweetheart. You're advising a queen, after all."
She gave your hand a playful squeeze.
"And who knows? If you impress me enough, I might even let you sit on my throne with me."

The first thing you noticed was the pain. It throbbed through your body, dull but persistent, accompanied by the unfamiliar scent of honey, warm wax, and medicinal herbs. Your limbs felt heavy, and your head ached as you slowly began to regain consciousness. The second thing you noticed was the buzzing.
Not the usual gentle hum of a peaceful hive, either. This was a nervous, restless buzzing, punctuated by hurried footsteps and hushed conversations just beyond the room.
"He's moving!"
"Go get the queen! Quickly!"
You barely had time to process the voices before the chamber doors swung open. Lori strode inside she looked different.
Her golden crown was slightly crooked, her wings bore a few small tears, and her usual immaculate appearance had been replaced by disheveled hair and a few streaks of dirt across her face. Her royal guards followed behind her, but she dismissed them with a sharp gesture.
"Out. All of you. Nobody enters this chamber unless I give permission."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
The guards bowed and immediately withdrew, closing the doors behind them. Lori stood perfectly still for a moment, her antennae twitching as she stared at you. The commanding expression she'd worn throughout the crisis faltered, and a visible wave of relief washed over her face.
"...You stubborn, stupid, wonderful idiot."
She hurried to your bedside and dropped to her knees beside you, taking your hand in both of hers. Her grip was almost desperately tight.
"Hey. Look at me, sweetheart. Open your eyes properly."
Her voice was firm, almost an order, but it trembled at the edges.
"Come on. That's it. There you are."
The moment she was certain you were awake, Lori pulled you into a careful embrace, mindful of your injuries. She buried her face against your shoulder, and her wings folded tightly around you.
"For the love of the hive, do you have any idea how scared I was?"
She drew back, holding your face between her hands. Her eyes were glossy, and her jaw was clenched as if she were fighting to keep herself composed.
"Those bastards attacked us before dawn. They came through the western entrance while most of our workers were still asleep. We barely had time to organize the guards before they reached the inner chambers."
Her antennae flattened against her hair.
"And then I found you."
For a moment, she couldn't continue. Her fingers tightened around yours.
"You were hurt, and you weren't waking up, and I—"
She stopped, inhaled sharply, and forced herself to straighten.
"No. We're not doing this. You're awake now, and that's what matters."
Lori wiped at her eyes with the back of her hand before standing. In an instant, the frightened girlfriend gave way to the queen she'd been learning to become.
"Listen to me carefully, darling. The rival hive has retreated for now. Our guards are securing the entrances, our workers are helping the injured, and I've doubled the watch around these chambers."
Her wings spread slightly, their soft buzzing filling the room.
"They thought they could march into MY hive, terrorize MY subjects, and take whatever they wanted They were wrong."
She paced a few steps before turning back toward you, her eyes burning with determination.
"I may be a young queen, and my colony may still be small, but nobody gets to hurt my people and walk away thinking I'm weak. I'll negotiate if I have to. I'll strengthen our defenses. I'll recruit every willing bee in the surrounding territories if that's what it takes."
She returned to your bedside and gently brushed your hair away from your forehead. Lori pulled a chair close to the bed and sat beside you, keeping one hand wrapped around yours. For all her talk of royal duties and military preparations, she showed no intention of leaving.
"I've barely left this room since they brought you here. My advisers have been pestering me about meetings, the guards keep asking for orders, and half the workers are convinced I should be sleeping."
She rolled her eyes.
"Can you imagine? Telling their queen to go to bed in the middle of a crisis."
She paused, then gave you a small, exhausted smile.
"...I might have threatened to assign them all to cleaning the nectar stores if they didn't stop bothering me."
For the first time, a little of her usual mischievous personality returned.
"Being queen is wonderful, sweetheart. Everyone listens to me, I have my own throne, and I can make practically anyone run errands for me."
She squeezed your hand.
"But none of that means a damn thing if I lose you."
Her voice grew quieter. She lowered her forehead to your joined hands, her crown slipping slightly out of place.
"I'm supposed to protect this hive. I'm supposed to be strong enough that my subjects never have to wonder whether their queen can keep them safe."
She swallowed.
"And when I saw you lying there, I realized how terrified I am of failing at that."
After a long moment, Lori straightened and carefully adjusted her crown. Her eyes met yours again, and the familiar confidence returned, though it was gentler now.
"All right. Enough about me."
She pointed one finger at you, adopting her most authoritative royal expression.
"You are going to rest. You're going to let the healers do their jobs, and you're not going to try getting out of that bed just to prove how tough you are."
*She leaned closer, raising an eyebrow.(
"That last part wasn't a suggestion, darling."
Then she kissed your cheek and settled back into her chair, still holding your hand.
"I have a kingdom to rebuild, a rival hive to deal with, and approximately a thousand things to organize."
Her thumb gently traced across your knuckles.
"But right now, I'm staying right here."
Lori looked at you with a small, determined smile.
"Now, sweetheart... can you tell me how you're feeling? And please don't give me that brave little smile and pretend you're fine if you're not."
