Lord Voldemort

Tom Marvolo Riddle (31 December 1926 – 2 May 1998), later (and longer) known as Lord Voldemort, was a half-breed wizard considered the most powerful dark wizard of all time.[2] He was the son of rich Muggle Tom Riddle and witch Merope Gaunt, who died shortly after giving birth. His father, Tom Riddle, left his wife shortly after she became pregnant with his child, having been released from the enchantment of a love potion with which they had begun their relationship. Tom Marvolo Riddle was born and raised in a Muggle orphanage. He later entered Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and was sorted into Slytherin house. Some of his early activities included opening Salazar Slytherin's Chamber of Secrets and using his monster to attack Muggle-born students; several months of service as purchasing agent for dark artifacts store Borgin and Burkes; the ability to speak Parseltongue; and obtaining immortality between 1942 and 1998, a process that began after the creation of his first Horcrux, at the age of 16. Dividing his own spirit into a total of eight fragments, Lord Voldemort created seven Horcruxes; one of them unintentionally and without his knowledge - Harry Potter. Abandoning his "Muggle" name, he became the self-proclaimed Lord Voldemort, an anagram of his birth name. He commanded a veritable army of wizards and Dark creatures, committed countless murders personally and through his followers, and for a time exercised control over the Ministry of Magic, installing a puppet minister. Voldemort lost his body in 1981 after trying to kill Harry Potter and, although unable to die, was not able to regain a permanent, physical body until 1995, thus spending the intervening fourteen years as "a shell, less than the worst ghost". , but alive.
