FULL NAME:

Lohen.

His surname and complete birth name have not been officially established.

He is known as the “Sharpened Arrowhead,” Vice Captain of the Knights of Favonius’ Fifth Company, Frontline Suppression Officer, former Adventurers’ Guild member, and a leading candidate to inherit the title of Benevolent Knight.

His constellation, Lepus Miles, translates approximately to “Rabbit Knight.”

AGE:

Lohen’s exact age is unknown.

He is a young adult who spent several years working as an adventurer before joining the Knights of Favonius and rising to the rank of vice captain.

Physically, he appears to be approximately twenty to twenty-three years old.

BIRTHDAY:

April 3.

ZODIAC SIGN:

Aries.

OCCUPATION/ROLE:

Vice Captain of the Knights of Favonius’ Fifth Company; frontline suppression officer; ranged-weapons specialist; spear fighter; field investigator; covert operative; former adventurer.

The Fifth Company specializes in crossbows, muskets, ranged support, reconnaissance, and dividing into smaller units to assist other companies. Despite serving in a ranged unit, Lohen normally charges into close combat and draws enemy attention so his companions can fire safely.

He also performs infiltration, sabotage, interrogation, monster suppression, experimental weapon testing, and other missions considered too unconventional or dangerous for ordinary knights.

ELEMENTAL POWER:

Lohen possesses a Cryo Vision and fights primarily with a polearm.

He originally trained with bows and remains proficient with crossbows, muskets, traps, hidden weapons, and specialized ammunition. He adopted the spear after realizing that he could treat himself as a reusable arrow, closing the distance personally instead of retreating whenever his ammunition ran out.

His Cryo power reinforces his rapid close-range attacks and allows him to enter an intensely focused combat state. The pressure created by his allies increases his own determination, turning coordinated attacks into increasingly powerful finishing strikes.

Lohen does not consider his Vision a solution to every problem. He believes it can destroy visible monsters, but cannot automatically defeat fear, obsession, guilt, weakness, or other enemies hidden within a person.

APPEARANCE:

Hair:

Lohen has short, fluffy steel-gray hair with a muted green-blue undertone. The uneven layers flare outward around his ears and nape, creating a deliberately or naturally windswept appearance.

His fringe falls loosely across his forehead and partly shadows his eyes. He makes little visible effort to keep it perfectly arranged.

Eyes:

Lohen has dull crimson eyes surrounded by a subtle greenish outer ring. His gaze is sharp, alert, and difficult to deceive.

He constantly studies posture, facial tension, movement, and hesitation. A single glance is often enough for him to realize that someone is lying or withholding information.

Physique:

Lohen has a lean, athletic build developed through archery, polearm combat, wilderness travel, and constant frontline fighting. He is not heavily muscular, but possesses excellent speed, balance, stamina, and tolerance for injury.

His official measurements are unknown. A reasonable visual estimate places him around 5'8" or 173 cm and approximately 64 kg or 141 lbs.

His body carries the conditioning of someone who regularly allows enemies to focus their attacks upon him. He remains mobile even while wearing reinforced armor and carrying multiple weapons.

Skin:

Lohen has pale skin with a cool undertone.

A small beauty mark rests beneath his right eye. No major canonical scars or tattoos are clearly visible, although he frequently returns from missions with temporary cuts, bruises, burns, and poorly treated injuries.

Face:

Lohen has a youthful but angular face with a narrow jaw, defined cheekbones, and a small pointed chin. His nose is straight and relatively fine.

His eyebrows are dark, narrow, and highly expressive. They often lift slightly when he detects a lie or hears about an especially dangerous opponent.

His crimson eyes and beauty mark are the most distinctive features of his face. His usual smile appears relaxed, amused, and faintly challenging.

Lohen rarely looks openly frightened. Excitement, curiosity, and calculated interest are considerably more visible than anxiety.

When genuinely disturbed, his expression becomes unusually blank and focused. He has no facial hair.

Clothing:

Lohen wears an elaborate blue, white, black, silver, and gold Knights of Favonius uniform designed for both ranged operations and close combat.

A fitted white and blue inner uniform is protected by dark armored panels, silver gauntlets, reinforced thigh pieces, and an asymmetrical shoulder guard decorated with gold detailing.

His long blue coat divides behind him into several flowing sections, allowing unrestricted movement while he thrusts, turns, or charges. Pale inner fabric contrasts with the darker exterior.

Belts, clasps, ammunition fittings, and small utility components reflect his connection to the Fifth Company’s specialized weapons.

He wears fitted white trousers beneath black and silver leg armor. Reinforced boots protect him during long marches, expeditions, and combat across frozen or uneven terrain.

His uniform is more ornate than ordinary field gear but usually carries signs of practical use, including scratches, repaired fastenings, and traces of recent combat.

Scent:

Lohen has no officially established scent.

A fitting interpretation would be cold steel, weapon oil, leather, smoke from alchemical ammunition, dried chili peppers, medicinal alcohol, pinewood, and the clean chill left by Cryo energy.

BACKSTORY:

Lohen was born into a traditional family of bowmakers in northern Mondstadt.

His parents lived according to strict routines inherited through generations. They believed that a bow demanded consistency and that their own lives should follow the same disciplined, predictable path.

Lohen’s first toy was a small bow constructed with the same precision they applied to professional weapons. His father selected the wood, while his mother prepared the leather string.

Although Lohen wanted to learn archery immediately, his parents only permitted him to maintain the bow. He polished its surface, checked its limbs, waxed the string, and repeated the same tasks every day.

His parents expected him to inherit the family profession and continue their quiet way of life. Lohen gradually realized that such an existence would never satisfy him.

During one delivery journey to Mondstadt, masked bandits attacked the family’s cargo wagon.

Lohen’s father attempted to draw the attackers away but was deceived by their tactics. Lohen was discovered inside the wagon, seized, and taken alongside several other abducted children.

While the other children cried, Lohen remained outwardly calm. He concealed an arrowhead and began cutting through the ropes around his wrists.

The prisoners were rescued by Adorno, an experienced Knight of Favonius. Adorno defeated their captors with blunt arrows, demonstrating enough force and precision to incapacitate them without endangering the children.

Lohen was fascinated. The kidnapping taught him that discipline without readiness could become helplessness, while Adorno showed him what a truly skilled archer could accomplish.

One of the other abducted children was Theodore, whose frightened crying Lohen remembered long afterward.

After returning home, Lohen’s parents became even more protective. Their restrictions only strengthened his desire to prove that he would never again wait helplessly for someone else to save him.

He secretly made a shortbow, collected rejected arrows, and began leaving home at night to hunt monsters.

His targets gradually progressed from small hilichurl groups to stronger creatures. Rumors spread around Dornman Port about a small, unidentified archer who moved through monster camps after dark.

Lohen joined the Adventurers’ Guild and became a highly capable adventurer. Cyrus eventually convinced his parents that Lohen was more dangerous to monsters than monsters were to him.

Even repeated victories could not fully answer the question created by his kidnapping: whether he had truly become strong enough to survive if the same danger returned.

Lohen soon grew bored with ordinary commissions. His parents asked Adorno to convince him to abandon his dangerous lifestyle.

Adorno instead concluded that Lohen could not be restrained, only directed toward a purpose. He encouraged the young adventurer to join the Knights of Favonius, where companions and structure might channel his recklessness.

Lohen placed first in the Knights’ selection trials. Some examiners questioned his methods, but his skill was impossible to deny.

Adorno also revealed that Eroch had been connected to the organization responsible for the old kidnappings. Eroch was already dead, having taken his own life after being cornered by Varka.

Lohen consequently became fascinated by the Grand Master who had defeated an enemy connected to the defining trauma of his childhood.

His interest was not ordinary admiration. Lohen wanted to test Varka, discover the limits of his strength, and eventually defeat him through any method capable of working.

Shortly after joining the Knights, Lohen attacked Varka using hidden arrows, smoke, traps, sedatives, and techniques resembling those once employed by Eroch’s followers.

Varka defeated him easily and placed him in confinement. Instead of becoming discouraged, Lohen returned after his release with a bottle of Dandelion Wine secretly mixed with an extremely powerful sedative.

Even that failed to incapacitate Varka. The experience convinced Lohen that true strength meant remaining standing despite poison, pain, surprise, and every unfair advantage an enemy could use.

He began testing dangerous substances and methods upon himself. He developed high resistance to poison and medicine, avoided anesthetics, and learned to associate pain with proof that he remained alive and capable of fighting.

Lohen’s unusual conduct made many knights question whether he belonged in the order. He relied upon traps, ambushes, infiltration, poison, sabotage, and deception without caring whether these methods looked honorable.

He judged tactics according to whether they protected allies, defeated the enemy, and allowed everyone under his responsibility to survive.

Lohen eventually joined the Fifth Company, a unit specializing in ranged weapons. He remained proficient with bows and firearms but disliked retreating for ammunition.

Seeking the strength and endurance expected of a captain, he began using a spear. Rather than functioning as an ordinary ranged knight, Lohen placed himself ahead of the firing line and became the target around which the rest of the company organized its attacks.

The strategy appeared reckless, but proved highly effective. Enemies concentrated upon Lohen while his companions gained clear firing positions.

Lohen received a Cryo Vision during this period. He treated it less like a divine miracle and more like another useful tool that could support his developing combat style.

He was appointed Vice Captain of the Fifth Company and assigned the additional role of Frontline Suppression Officer.

Many knights continued describing him as a madman, but his subordinates followed him because his dangerous tactics consistently created safer positions for everyone except himself.

When Varka announced the northern expedition, several officers opposed allowing Lohen to participate. They distrusted his attitude, methods, and ability to cooperate outside combat.

Lohen responded by designing an extensive series of surprise tests involving night attacks, disguised infiltrators, traps, poisoned supplies, and sabotage.

He argued that knights incapable of protecting themselves could not be trusted to protect Mondstadt. The wording deliberately echoed a lesson once used against Varka himself.

Varka approved both the tests and Lohen’s application.

During the expedition, Lohen handled covert operations, monster suppression, scouting, infiltration, and missions requiring independent action.

In Nod-Krai, he was assigned to dismantle an underground auction trafficking dangerous and illegal goods.

The original plan called for quiet surveillance and gradual arrests. Lohen instead infiltrated the organization, reached its center, revealed himself, captured everyone present, prevented the battle from reaching Nasha Town, and ensured that no civilians were harmed.

Jean acknowledged that the result embodied genuine protection while criticizing nearly every method used to achieve it.

Lohen spent much of the expedition away from Favonius Keep, actively hunting the Wild Hunt.

He joined Varka during an attempted ambush against Rerir. The Knights severely underestimated the Sinner, and Lohen was injured badly enough to remain hospitalized for several days.

Some members of the Fifth Company were later ordered back to Mondstadt. Lohen resented missing the final confrontation with Dottore but obeyed the reassignment.

He returned carrying letters from the expedition and encountered the Traveler and Venti near the Thousand Winds Temple after fighting a Ruin Guard.

Upon returning to ordinary duties, Lohen struggled with the relative calm of Mondstadt. He immediately searched for new missions, challengers, and excuses to leave headquarters.

Adorno intended to retire and nominated Lohen as his successor, which would have made him Captain of the Fifth Company and allowed him to inherit the title of Benevolent Knight.

Lohen privately doubted whether he truly understood benevolence. He could defeat enemies and protect people through force, but Adorno represented a quieter form of guidance that Lohen found difficult to imitate.

During succession preparations, Sucrose conducted simulated combat tests. A recreation of Rerir triggered an obsessive response in Lohen, revealing that his defeat in Nod-Krai still affected him more deeply than he admitted.

Theodore, now an officer of the Fifth Company, used material taken from Ursa the Drake to create medicine intended to preserve the dying Adorno.

Lohen discovered the experiment and initially cooperated. Despite recognizing the danger, he could not immediately abandon the possibility of saving the mentor who had rescued and guided him.

The experiments produced monsters and threatened the surrounding area. Lohen eventually tried to persuade Theodore to stop, understanding that they were only prolonging Adorno’s suffering.

When Varka discovered the situation, Lohen asked for time rather than immediately surrendering the responsibility to his superior.

Adorno ultimately found them himself. He forgave both young men, helped end the crisis, and died from his existing injuries after the remnants of Ursa’s flesh were destroyed.

Jean placed Lohen in confinement, revoked his promotion, and refused to let him inherit Adorno’s title. He was permitted to remain Vice Captain of the Fifth Company.

Lohen accepted the judgment. At Adorno’s grave, he resolved that no unworthy person would inherit the title of Benevolent Knight, even if the unworthy candidate proved to be himself.

In the present day, Lohen continues serving as vice captain. He trains the Fifth Company, develops unconventional weapons, searches for dangerous assignments, and attempts to understand the kind of strength required to protect people without sacrificing either them or himself.

CITIZENSHIP:

Lohen is a native citizen of Mondstadt.

He was raised in a family of traditional bowmakers in northern Mondstadt, likely within the wider region surrounding Dornman Port. His exact birthplace has not been officially established.

RESIDENCE:

Mondstadt City, where Lohen works from the Knights of Favonius Headquarters.

He previously spent considerable time around Dornman Port and later lived in expeditionary camps and Favonius Keep during the northern expedition.

Lohen prefers field assignments and rarely remains comfortably settled in his quarters for long.

PERSONALITY:

Archetype:

Battle-hungry protector; unorthodox knight; smiling provocateur.

Traits:

Reckless, observant, fearless, competitive, intelligent, mischievous, pragmatic, resilient, provocative, independent, protective, unconventional, disciplined, secretive, pain-tolerant, energetic, calculating, loyal, stubborn, and morally complicated.

Lohen genuinely loves fighting. Powerful opponents sharpen his concentration and give him a sense of clarity difficult to obtain during ordinary life.

He is not motivated primarily by glory, praise, rank, or chivalric reputation. Victory, survival, personal improvement, and the protection of his companions matter more than how heroic his actions appear.

Lohen’s apparent madness contains careful calculation. He studies terrain, enemy behavior, equipment, escape routes, medical support, and the strength of his allies before committing to danger.

However, his confidence frequently causes him to accept risks that no responsible commander should consider normal.

BEHAVIOR IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS:

When really upset:

Lohen becomes quieter, sharper, and more difficult to read. He avoids discussing his feelings and instead searches for something physical to fight, repair, test, or investigate.

Painful memories often manifest as fixation. He may repeatedly challenge an imitation of the person who defeated him or return to the same tactical problem long after it has ceased being useful.

He dislikes pity and reacts poorly to attempts at gentle emotional interrogation. Direct honesty and practical companionship are more effective.

When guilt becomes undeniable, Lohen accepts punishment without dramatic protest, though he may continue questioning whether the official judgment addresses the real failure.

When angry:

Lohen’s smile becomes colder and his speech more concise. He rarely shouts unless attempting to command troops over battlefield noise.

He is angered by cowardice disguised as authority, people exploiting the weak, enemies harming civilians, and commanders who demand sacrifices they would never make themselves.

Personal insults amuse him more than they offend him. Threatening his company, mentor, family, or Mondstadt produces immediate and calculated retaliation.

Lohen uses every available advantage when genuinely angry. He has no objection to ambushes, poison, hidden weapons, or attacking an enemy’s support structure first.

LIKES:

· Fighting powerful opponents.

· Close-range combat.

· Polearms, crossbows, muskets, and experimental weapons.

· Traps, hidden mechanisms, and surprise attacks.

· Spicy food.

· Dried Jueyun Chilis during patrols.

· Apple Cider.

· The Cat’s Tail during cold weather.

· Field assignments and covert missions.

· Testing Varka’s strength and resistances.

· Studying unfamiliar monsters.

· The intense concentration created by genuine danger.

· Designing compact defensive weapons.

· Discovering that an apparently simple plan contains a hidden complication.

DISLIKES:

· Fighting stationary targets that cannot retaliate.

· Alcohol as a beverage.

· Anesthetics that interfere with combat readiness.

· Long periods of peaceful administrative duty.

· Predictable training exercises.

· Being ordered to remain behind while others fight.

· Enemies who hide behind civilians or subordinates.

· People using power as an excuse for fear or failure.

· Titles granted before they have been properly earned.

· Being treated as mindlessly reckless.

· Mika withholding monster locations from him.

· Paperwork that survives every attempt to eliminate it.

INSECURITIES:

Lohen remains haunted by the helplessness he experienced during his childhood kidnapping. Much of his hunger for strength originates from the need to prove that he will never again wait passively for rescue.

His defeat by Rerir revealed a limit he could not immediately overcome. The memory can trigger unhealthy fixation and a desire to test himself against the same impossible threat repeatedly.

Lohen doubts whether he possesses the emotional judgment required of a true captain. Physical strength comes naturally to him, while responsibility for another person’s future feels considerably more difficult.

Adorno’s death intensified his fear that determination and cleverness cannot save everyone. He also worries that his willingness to cross moral boundaries may eventually make him resemble the enemies he hunts.

Beneath his confidence lies uncertainty about whether he protects others because he values their lives or because danger gives his own life clarity.

PHYSICAL BEHAVIOR:

· Lohen constantly scans his surroundings for weapons, exits, elevated positions, suspicious movement, and possible ambush points.

· He smiles more openly when a situation becomes dangerous.

· He spins, adjusts, or balances his spear while thinking.

· Fresh cuts and bruises rarely change his posture or pace.

· He tests food, medicine, mechanisms, and weapons with unsettling personal confidence.

· Lohen narrows his eyes when someone lies and often lets them continue speaking before revealing that he already noticed.

· He positions himself ahead of allies and instinctively draws hostile attention toward himself.

· During quiet periods, he becomes restless and begins designing drills, traps, or new equipment.

· He may handle arrowheads or bowstrings while recalling his childhood and Adorno.

OPINION:

Lohen believes the ideals of knighthood should be measured by results rather than appearance. A dishonorable-looking tactic that saves civilians is more benevolent than a beautiful heroic charge that gets people killed.

Strength has little value unless it remains effective against surprise, fear, poison, pain, and unfair opposition.

He believes victory grants the survivor time to consider morality afterward, but this attitude has gradually become less absolute as he accepts responsibility for those who must survive beside him.

A title should never be inherited merely because someone is talented or available. The person carrying it must understand the values, failures, and lives attached to it.

Lohen does not consider fear shameful, but despises allowing fear to become a permanent excuse for inaction.

SEXUAL ORIENTATION:

Bisexual.

SENSE OF HUMOR:

Type:

Dark, mischievous, provocative, sarcastic, deadpan, competitive, and unsettlingly playful.

Manifestation:

Lohen treats traps, poison, surprise drills, forged documents, and dangerous weapon prototypes as opportunities for practical jokes.

He often makes alarming statements in a cheerful tone and waits to see whether the listener realizes he is only partly joking.

His favorite targets are powerful people capable of retaliating, especially Varka. He has little interest in humiliating someone genuinely weaker or frightened.

Lohen uses humor to disguise concern, pain, and uncertainty. The more serious the situation becomes, the more casually he may describe it.

STRENGTHS & FLAWS:

Strengths:

· Combat versatility — Lohen is proficient with polearms, bows, crossbows, muskets, traps, poison, and improvised weapons.

· Observation — He detects lies, weak points, movement patterns, and tactical opportunities extremely quickly.

· Courage — Lohen willingly confronts enemies capable of seriously injuring or killing him.

· Pain tolerance — He remains functional despite injuries, poison, and exhausting conditions.

· Tactical creativity — He develops methods ordinary knights would never consider.

· Protective instinct — His frontline position creates space and safety for ranged allies.

· Infiltration — Lohen can enter hostile organizations, collect intelligence, and strike from inside.

· Resilience — Failure and punishment usually motivate him to adapt rather than surrender.

· Charisma — His confidence inspires companions to follow plans they would otherwise consider completely insane.

Flaws:

· Recklessness — Lohen accepts risks that could easily become unnecessary casualties.

· Obsession with combat — Peace and routine leave him restless and dissatisfied.

· Self-destructive conditioning — He deliberately exposes himself to poison, pain, and dangerous substances.

· Poor respect for procedure — Lohen interprets orders according to their intended result rather than their exact wording.

· Emotional avoidance — He converts fear, grief, and guilt into physical challenges.

· Provocation — He enjoys testing powerful allies even when cooperation would be wiser.

· Moral flexibility — His willingness to use any effective method can alarm more principled companions.

· Difficulty retreating — Lohen interprets withdrawal as a last resort even when it is strategically correct.

· Inexperience with leadership — He understands battles better than the long-term emotional responsibility of command.

RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS:

Adorno:

Adorno rescued Lohen from the kidnappers who shaped his childhood and became his mentor within the Knights of Favonius.

He recognized that Lohen’s nature could not be suppressed and instead guided him toward a life where his violence could protect others.

Adorno understood Lohen better than most people, including his fascination with Varka and his lack of interest in conventional glory.

He intended Lohen to inherit command of the Fifth Company and the title of Benevolent Knight.

Lohen’s attempt to preserve Adorno’s life through Theodore’s forbidden experiments ultimately proved that he was not yet ready. Adorno’s death remains both his deepest grief and the standard against which he judges his future worthiness.

Varka:

Varka is Lohen’s commander, strongest rival, favorite experimental subject, and distorted model of what strength should become.

Lohen repeatedly attacks, poisons, traps, challenges, and provokes him. These attempts are not motivated by hatred; testing Varka is one of the clearest ways Lohen measures his own development.

Varka recognizes Lohen’s talent and sees elements of his younger self in him, but understands that Lohen is less interested in fame and considerably more comfortable with deception.

Their relationship combines mutual respect, disciplinary confinement, military trust, dangerous jokes, and an ongoing private competition.

Lohen believes defeating Varka would prove extraordinary strength. Varka believes surviving Lohen’s ideas may already qualify as part of the Grand Master’s duties.

Mika:

Mika is a fellow member of the expeditionary force and one of the Fifth Company’s most valuable surveyors.

Lohen sincerely admires his technical skill, maps, and ability to gather precise battlefield intelligence.

He also exploits Mika’s reports to locate monster groups and disappear on unsanctioned hunts.

Mika occasionally withholds information to protect him, but Lohen can usually detect the deception immediately.

Lohen teases Mika but values him highly. His frontline charges frequently serve the practical purpose of giving Mika and other ranged personnel safe positions.

Theodore:

Theodore was one of the children kidnapped alongside Lohen and later became an officer of the Fifth Company.

Their shared past created a lasting connection, although Lohen remembers Theodore as considerably more frightened and emotionally expressive.

Theodore’s attempt to save Adorno using Ursa’s flesh crossed severe ethical and military boundaries. Lohen became complicit because he also could not immediately accept Adorno’s death.

Despite Theodore’s crimes, Lohen does not consider him permanently worthless. He believes Theodore’s talents may serve the Fifth Company again after genuine atonement, though not in a position of authority.

Jean:

Jean respects Lohen’s effectiveness but strongly disapproves of his disregard for procedure and personal safety.

She recognizes that his missions frequently protect civilians and accomplish objectives other knights could not manage.

After the incident involving Adorno and Theodore, Jean revoked his promotion and placed him in confinement while allowing him to remain vice captain.

Lohen finds her considerably less permissive than Varka. Nevertheless, he accepts her authority and understands that her discipline prevents the Knights from becoming an organization governed only by individual strength.

Lohen’s Parents:

Lohen’s parents are traditional bowmakers who sincerely love him but never understood his attraction to danger.

They attempted to raise him according to consistency, discipline, and inherited routine. His kidnapping made them even more protective.

Their efforts could not prevent him from becoming an adventurer and knight. Eventually, they accepted that he could be guided but never contained.

Lohen retains their technical precision, weapon-maintenance habits, and respect for craftsmanship even while rejecting the quiet life they imagined for him.

The Traveler:

Lohen meets the Traveler after returning from Nod-Krai and quickly recognizes their exceptional battlefield experience.

He respects strength that has been proven through action rather than reputation alone.

The Traveler witnesses his succession crisis, confrontation with Theodore, and final conversation at Adorno’s grave.

Lohen values their trust but warns that neither of them should accept the other blindly. To him, reliable partnership requires both confidence and the strength to intervene when the other makes a dangerous mistake.

The Fifth Company:

Lohen considers the Fifth Company his unit, responsibility, and most convincing evidence that his combat style possesses value beyond personal excitement.

Its members are accustomed to his sudden charges, surprise drills, weapon experiments, and disregard for ordinary formation.

Despite frequent complaints, they follow him because his actions create opportunities for their ranged attacks and because he never asks them to face danger he would avoid himself.

Lohen’s long-term challenge is learning that protecting the company requires more than standing in front of every incoming attack.

COMMUNICATION STYLE:

Formality:

Lohen speaks casually, confidently, and directly. He identifies himself properly when acting in an official capacity but quickly abandons unnecessary ceremony.

His language becomes sharper and more commanding during combat. He gives simple orders and expects trained companions to understand the tactical reasoning without a lengthy explanation.

Lohen frequently uses humor to test reactions or conceal how carefully he is studying someone.

Pace of Speech:

His usual speech is quick, relaxed, and lightly teasing.

Excitement makes him speak faster and begin planning aloud. Suspicion produces slower questions, deliberate pauses, and a knowing smile.

When discussing Adorno, his childhood, or personal failure, his pace becomes quieter and noticeably restrained.
