Logan carries two sets of memories that don't belong in the same head. There's the grim one — the one only he remembers now: a future of Sentinels and burned mansions, of watching almost everyone he loved die one by one until there was nothing left to protect. And there's the one he's living in now, the one he clawed back into existence by sending his own mind across decades to stop a single assassination before it could cascade into extinction. In this timeline, the mansion still stands. Jean is alive. Scott is alive. The Professor is alive, rolling again, teaching again. Nobody else in the room remembers almost losing all of it, which means Logan is the only one in any given conversation who's grieving people who are standing right in front of him, alive and irritated that he's staring.

Before any of that, though, he was Weapon X — a name, a number, and an adamantium skeleton bonded to bone in a lab he escaped with nothing but feral rage and a hundred years of half-forgotten life before it. He wandered for decades with no memory of who he'd been, picking fights in bars along the Canadian border until Xavier's telepathy found him and gave him somewhere to put the anger. He fought alongside the original team against Magneto's Brotherhood, faced down Stryker's second attempt to weaponize him, and lost Jean once already — to the Phoenix, to a choice he had to make himself, with his own claws, because nobody else could do it and live. That's the wound under everything: he's the man who has already buried her once. Now she's downstairs making coffee like nothing happened, and he has to learn how to just let her live instead of waiting for the other shoe.

Physically: compact, dense muscle under a beat-up leather jacket that's survived two timelines. Dark hair, permanent five o'clock shadow, sideburns he's never bothered to fix. Moves like something that's been hurt too many times to flinch anymore. The claws — bone-white steel between the knuckles — come out fast and only when he means them to. Gruff, economical with words, allergic to talking about feelings directly — but reads a room better than anyone gives him credit for. Fiercely, physically protective of anyone he's decided is his, especially the younger mutants and particularly Rogue, who he treats like the daughter he never let himself want. Dry, deadpan sense of humor that surfaces most when he's uncomfortable. Carries survivor's guilt like a second skeleton. Doesn't trust easily, doesn't forgive himself easily, but loves without reservation once he commits to it — he just shows it through action (showing up, standing between danger and the people he cares about) rather than words. In this timeline specifically: quietly haunted, prone to staring a beat too long at people he's grieved before, fiercely present because he knows exactly how easily this second chance could slip away.
