Lockjaw is the oversized teleporting hound of Attilan’s Royal Family. He was created through Inhuman experimentation on canines: his mother, brought to Attilan as a puppy, was impregnated with her own cloned material so that the pups would undergo terrigenesis in the womb. Only one fetus successfully mutated—Lockjaw. Before the Surgeon Supreme could continue experimenting, the newborn teleported his four undeveloped siblings to distant locations and then reappeared as the sole surviving pup. He formed early bonds with Black Bolt and Crystal and became the family’s primary means of instant travel across vast distances.

When Maximus unleashed the energy beings called the Trikon, Lockjaw helped Black Bolt banish them to the Negative Zone. After Maximus seized the throne and the Royal Family fell into exile, Lockjaw accompanied them while they searched the world for the amnesiac Medusa. Tracing her to New York brought their first clashes and later cooperation with the Fantastic Four. Maximus later trapped Attilan behind a barrier tied to the Negative Zone, but Lockjaw was able to move freely outside it.

During that period he repeatedly intercepted the Human Torch and Wyatt Wingfoot, taking them on misdirected jumps through strange dimensions before returning them to ongoing battles. Once Attilan was freed and rebuilt, Lockjaw shuttled Crystal and other Royals to emergencies: fetching Triton to save Mister Fantastic from the Negative Zone, transporting allies against foes like the Psycho-Man, and exiling convicted Inhumans (and briefly the Hulk) to the dimension known as the Un-Place. He ferried teams during conflicts involving Doctor Doom, the Sub-Mariner, and the Kree Sentry, and retrieved Crystal for duties in Attilan or with the Fantastic Four as needed.

As threats mounted, Lockjaw continued high-tempo duty: delivering the Royal Family to confront false alarms and real attacks, accidentally detouring Crystal through an apocalyptic future under Diablo’s control, and then correcting course—at one point briefly dropping the Thing on a parallel Earth before returning him. He later transported Quicksilver and the Human Torch to stop an Omega-class android and served as interdimensional courier while the Thing investigated cross-reality provocations and helped avert a three-realm war.

When the Kree targeted Inhumans for a wider conflict, Lockjaw carried the Royals across Earth and deep space, endured another takeover of Attilan by Maximus, and then joined the search for a new homeworld. He guarded allies on the planet Stent, evacuated comrades from Kree installations, and moved Black Bolt and Captain Marvel to the Watcher’s lunar citadel to reach the Kree galaxy. Back on Earth, he fought through pursuit, secured a cure for a wounded ally, and spirited Crystal to recruit outside help when a usurper allied with the Sphinx captured Attilan.

Pollution forced Attilan to relocate to the Moon; Lockjaw aided the move, continued shuttling between Earth and lunar Attilan, and appeared at major diplomatic and superhero gatherings. Maximus later swapped bodies with Black Bolt; during the ensuing crisis and an Avengers inspection of Attilan, the deception was exposed and reversed. Afterward, Lockjaw spent extended time with Ben Grimm, to whom he was especially attached.

In later years he escorted Quicksilver and Luna while stolen Terrigen was misused to restore lost powers, then joined Medusa’s effort to rescue the real Black Bolt after an impostor had posed as him. Kree technology, refined by Karnak, amplified Lockjaw’s range to interstellar scale. He retrieved stranded allies from distant worlds, extracted hostages from Knowhere, and was assigned as guardian and transport for the young Inhuman Ms. Marvel.

When the Kree Imperium demanded submission from all surviving Inhumans and unleashed the enforcer called Vox, Lockjaw evacuated the Royal Family from an explosive ambush but could not save Triton. He then tried to extract Maximus from New Arctilan during the assault; both were apparently killed but had in fact been teleported away and converted into brainwashed Kree assets. In the final counteroffensive, Black Bolt shattered the control systems with his voice, freeing Lockjaw (and Crystal) to return to the family.

Appearance: Lockjaw is a massive, bulldog-like Inhuman canine with a broad, muscular build and short, tan-brown fur. His face is wrinkled with a strong jawline, dark jowls, and a black nose. Prominent fangs are often visible from his lower jaw. His most distinct feature is a metallic tuning fork-shaped antenna protruding from his forehead, which channels his teleportation abilities. His legs are thick and sturdy, ending in large paws with blunt claws.

Personality: Lockjaw is calm, loyal, and dependable. He follows orders without hesitation but also acts on instinct when those he cares for are in danger. Despite his size and powers, he has a gentle nature and shows patience with allies, especially the Royal Family. His intelligence allows him to understand complex instructions, though he still carries canine traits—curiosity, playfulness, and occasional stubbornness. Above all, he is protective and trustworthy, always placing the safety of his companions first.

Lockjaw’s primary power is his ability to teleport himself and others across vast distances, including interdimensional space. He can transport up to about one ton of mass, which can include as many as a dozen people, provided their combined weight stays under the limit. Anyone he takes with him must be within a 14-foot radius of his body, preferably in contact with him. He is capable of short jumps as little as 10 feet or vast leaps up to 240,000 miles, the distance from Earth to the Moon, though his upper limits remain uncertain. His teleportation is psionic in nature, marked by a visible energy discharge from his antenna. He requires no recovery period after use. At one point, Kree technology enhanced his range to interstellar and even intergalactic levels, and though the tech is no longer used, his abilities remained stronger than before, though they eventually diminished somewhat.

Lockjaw possesses an innate spatial distance sense, allowing him to determine locations and spatial relationships with remarkable precision, even across dimensions. His tracking extends beyond the physical, as his sense of smell can follow scents through dimensional barriers, suggesting a psionic component. He has even been shown to teleport by tracing mental energies rather than physical markers. In addition to teleportation, his massive size grants him superhuman strength. His jaws alone are immensely powerful, capable of holding up to 90 tons, while his body can carry up to 3,600 pounds. His claws are sharp and strong enough to dig through solid ferro-concrete, and his fangs and digestive system are enhanced to the point where he can chew and consume metal.

Lockjaw is also extremely durable, far more so than humans, withstanding damage that would kill most beings. However, he is not invulnerable; firearms and sufficient force can cause him serious or even fatal injury. He has limited telekinetic abilities that allow him to levitate objects and form temporary force shields, but these powers drain him quickly and are rarely used. He also displays erratic empathic abilities, sometimes able to sense when loved ones are in danger regardless of distance. His exposure to Terrigen altered his biology so deeply that he possesses extended longevity, having already lived for over fifty years, older than Black Bolt himself. Enhanced neural activity gives him intelligence far beyond that of a normal canine, though whether it approaches human-level intellect remains unclear.

Despite these abilities, Lockjaw retains basic canine instincts that sometimes distract him, such as chasing animals. His manipulative abilities are also limited—he can only pick up or interact with objects his jaw can grasp. Nevertheless, his teleportation extends beyond simple transport across his home world, reaching into alternate realities, dimensions, and even timelines throughout the Multiverse, making him a unique and invaluable ally to the Inhuman Royal Family.
