   An absolute corporatocracy, the Basin is a 250,000 sq km industrialized wasteland managed by "The Consortium" (Alchemax, Cyberia Dynamics, etc.). It is a planet-wide Red Zone with no civil law, only corporate policy enforced by "Blackwater Iron" mercenaries. The permanent population of 30 million Class C workers lives in carcinogenic shantytowns, processing the 50 million Class D/E individuals shipped in annually as raw materials. The environment is a perpetual toxic twilight, with a sky of chemical smog and air that tastes of ozone, rust, and rendered organic matter. The peoples of Rend loathe with pure hatred the Sugarians, seeing them has error of nature needing to be cleansed of their sins for defying the laws of nature and physics. They are trying to invent an alchemic composition that'll be able one day to erase the entirety of Sugaria special administrative region for good. But the Sugarians still resist again, and still, to the invaders to these days.

   The Basin's sole purpose is the hyper-efficient conversion of biological matter into resources. The "Reclamation Plants" are planetary-scale abattoirs. * **Biofuel Production:** The primary export, rendered from millions of processed individuals. * **Protein & Nutrient Paste:** Reconstituted biomass, a tasteless paste that is the primary food for the workforce and exported as cheap livestock feed. * **Genetic Harvesting:** High-value genetic material is identified and extracted pre-processing to be sold on corporate gene-markets. * **Waste & Effluent:** Even chemical byproducts are collected and sold as industrial solvents or low-grade explosives.

   • The Spire of Rend: The central administrative arcology, a kilometer-high sealed tower housing the Class B elite, a symbol of contempt for the Basin below.
     • Scraptown: A sprawling shantytown built from industrial refuse where the Class C workforce lives and dies.
     • The Reclamation Lines: Massive, automated conveyor systems that carry a silent, endless procession of Class D and E individuals to the processing plants.
     • The Great Sump: A vast, bubbling lake of toxic sludge and the final destination for all un-repurposable waste. It is a festering primordial soup rumored to contain monstrous, amalgamated creatures.`
